You'd think with the course change that they would try to even that out, but no!

We'll see. I've been on again off again lately. Ran pretty good last Sat. at Bear Water off two day reduced mileage. Had to walk during a 15 yesterday. I am going to do a high rest taper.

Ok TC folks...how is the training going? Tapering well? I'm actually scheduled for 20 this Sunday, then I'll fully kick off my taper. Good luck!

Running is fine but I am so busy that I was forced to start tapering... My plan was to do a 2-week taper period but I was forced to do 3, I guess... I plan to do at least 18 miles on Sun.
I was wondering if TC sends out any package just as Boston or Chicago do. I just moved and I don't know if I am missing something that got lost in the mail???
Thanks!

Participants guides are in the mail.

For those of us running the 10 miler -- new course looks like a KILLER!. Better take advantage of the first 2 miles. Miles 3 through about 7.5 are going to be a bear!!!

Rob,

Are we going to have to run 4:50 miles for the first two to bank enough mins for the rest of the uphill race? : )

Well, you might be able to put in a 4:50 mile -- that would be a 9 second PR for me...

As I mentioned back on page one, when I ran the 10 mile race last year I was surprised with the hill going up to St Thomas. I had done the marathon the two previous years and I remembered how tough the hill was. Last year in the ten mile I was preparing myself for the tough hill and then, all of a sudden, I was at St Thomas. The hill was a lot tougher after 21 miles in the marathon than it was after 5 miles in the ten mile race.

I feel better prepared this year and if I can stay healthy up to that point, I think I will be able to handle the last 5 miles.

I wish I was doing the ten miler. It would be a treat to line up front just behind Abdi, Dan Brown ect. Pretty good field is put together for that race. I hope the altered course is a good one.

Well it will be down hill miles......But I was exagerating a bit.

I've been training on them hills the past month and they seem to be getting easyer, but after them, keeping pace up summit has me worried.

This week I will run Summit from the river up to the Cathedral
To give me an idea what I will be capable of.

I would agree that the hills are MUCH tougher in the marathon -- hence why I am going elsewhere for my fall marathon. Also, I do think the elevation chart does somewhat exaggerate the hills in the 10 mile chart. BUT with that being said -- there are some decent hills in the race. Looking at it today though, I think that there are more miles that you can attack than miles you need to survive.

Still formulating my strategy, but I have a goal in sight. We shall see if I can get there...

Ran the 10 miler last year and doing it again next weekend. I knew they needed to change the course, but what ended up changing (specifically), and what stayed the same?

Mostly the second mile has changed. They will bring us up from the river, run us through 7 corners then back down to the river prior to the hill up to the Franklin Bridge.

I wonder if they updated the elevation profile?

Seems like the mile markers are still based on the old course...

I see. Whereas last year we just stayed on W. River Parkway until we headed up to the Franklin Bridge, right?

Curious about race packets also. Per the website, they have been mailed, but I have not received mine yet. However, I live in TX so expect mine to take a day or so longer than MN runners. Talked to my sister last night who lives in Moorhead and she has not received her's yet.

I got a packet from them on monday last week, but it just had a welcome letter, a schedule of events, and a list of the rules.

Don't know my number yet.
