Wow - that stinks that you guys qualified for wave 1 but only got into wave 2 after sending in your info in a couple days in. I just checked and saw that I got into wave 1, but I faxed in my info the day I registered (first day open). I had no idea they filled so fast!!HOWEVER, if wave 1 is limited to 2000 people, you shouldn't have much of a problem. Just get there early and line up in the front area and you will have a wide open field. I was also in wave 2 at Boston (and yes, I realize it is a different race entirely) but was planning to run a pace in the range of the wave 1 group. No problem. Your first mile may be crowded, but that will probably be a blessing. WIth that said, good luck to those of you that are going to argue the point.

I ran this last year and it was so inspiring--first marathon and a great one to start with. I can't run it this year and am glad to be out of town on that day as I know I'll be really dissapointed not to be in it. I'll be sending you all good luck on that St Thomas/Summit hill... ------------------ 30's Calendar Melissa

Well, I am very relieved now. They called me this afternoon to tell me they located my proof and that by the end of today it would be updated. As a matter of fact, I saw they already placed me in wave 1. They also added in their website that they still are in the process of updating all the wave information and included a new e-mail for questions about wave confirmation. Maybe I wasn't the only one who got restless when I saw the mistake. I am very glad they solved my problem and I hope they solve everyone else's. I'm sorry if I caused too much alarm. I was worried because I don't know the course. You know, being in wave 2 in Boston doesn't hurt a bit (at least for my level). Chicago, is not a problem either. Last year, while I had preferred start 1, I got there late, so I started in the open section... I was always running at my pace. But I have no idea about Twin Cities and I wanted to make sure I was in wave 1. I am sooo excited about TC... I heard sooooo many beautiful things... it's a dream come true

I'm in, also in wave 1 - maybe we should have a party before the race starts :-)Has anyone here who's run Twin Cities also run Baltimore? I ran that one 2 years ago and it was tough (mostly uphill from 16 - 23) but fair. I'm looking for a comparison between the two.

I'm officially in, I guess.Training is going well, laying down my fastest times ever on the track. But that can be meaningless if not race-proven. They are not races, just workouts. A 5k this week will let me know where I stand, though run on tired legs. It's training! 12 weeks? I think so. Train early, train often, d.

I'm thinking Monticello. Though not pre-registered. Then the Lumberjack days 5k (no, not 10 miles, I'm trying to build some speed here, folks.) and then it would be nice to see if I can improve my mile on the Rice Street the week after that. Then we'll hit more strength-endurance work, and hopefully pop a nice TCM. Really came through Grandma's right on track, so now I just need to stay off the bench (Sometimes difficult!), and stick with the program.

well, now - how am I supposed to get my voyeuristic fix if no one will post their training and such? My own training is seeminly going really great, but who can tell? I'll know more in a few weeks. Dull, dull, dull, just a lot of running in this nice weather, eh? That's about how I feel. I'm ready for August. It's the best summer month.

I am running the San Francisco Marathon this week. I got hurt in Fargo and had to take the rest of May and most of June off, so I have been doing a "reverse taper" for it, about thirty five miles in June and around 200 in July so far. I will take Sunday's marathon as a nice tourist long run. I mean how often do you get the chance to run across the Golden Gate Bridge, twice. I plan to try to break three hours in the Twin Cities this fall but I think a lot will depend on how well I can get my old legs back to the shape they were in before I had to miss those six weeks. ------------------ MyUserProfile
