Marj and I drove through the fog early this morning to run the 20th Feaster 5 with 4000 doing the 5K and 2000+ running the 8K. The race finishers always receive an apple pie as well as afinishers medal for today's 20th.
At the porta-potty line we encountered Jay (Coastwalker) and saw him again at the starting line. He race walked the 5 K, so we never saw him again.
The pre race announcements featured such running celebrities as Dick Hoyt, Jack Fultz (Boston Marathon winner), Bill Rogers and Joan Benoit Samuelson. Dave McGovern gave a symbolic "fly over"-buzzing orally through the fog and we were off. Fortunately, we had chips-both starting and finishing.
The first mile was mostly uphill and slow as we picked our way through the crowd I lost Marj after 3/4 of a mile, as has been usual in our recent races. The rest of the race featured some uphills, but mostly downhiils. I picked it up a bit and finished with a net time of 51:42 -6th out of 13 in my age group. Marj finished in 49:59-5th out of 15. We both felt good, got our pies and took off for home. Since it was Thanksgiving, finishing snacks were limited and they planned to send out awards rather than delay our homeward journey.
This short but concise report was written while enjoying our pre-dinner martunis and watching football on TV.
Happy Holidays.

Henrun - it was foggy this morning - wasn't it.

What a nice race - seeing Dick Hoyt, Jack Fultz, Bill Rogers, Joan Benoit Samuelson and getting a pie - wow!

Well done - both of you.

Thanks all. Jay race walked the 5K and did quite well (10+ min./mile). He must be having a busy TG weekend or he'd have posted a report by now.

Awesome! Henrun-----you and Marj are my idols. I try to get to as many races as possible as a racer or a volunteer and I love how you both get to so many more and are always doing well. One of my running pals went to highschool with Ricky Hoyt and whenever I see the Hoyts in particular, I can't help but smile through my tears.

Bravo/a!

Hi Henry,

You and Marj sure know how to celebrate: A T-day morning race, followed by "martunis" and football! You both looked great and ran well, especially in the big crowd.

I hope you have a great trip to Texas, and know that you'll have a lively meeting with Spareribs.

Jay

Great races to both of you and yes meeting Coastwalker is on my list as he is one of the first boomers to ever greet me over 3 years ago as a newbie.

Thanks for the report
