Lawdy, how I love this sport! It's one of those cold damp days that we do so well in southern New England this time of year, and the wind is whipping at a nice 15 mph or so. Still, hundreds of runners - including me - make the trek out to Edaville just so they can spend part of their morning running a 5 mile race on the dirt roads around the lake and some of the cranberry bogs. And I took 4 1/2 minutes off last year's time at this race! I don't have the official time yet, but it looks like I finished in 38:00 or 38:01, compared to 42:32 last year. Isn't that awesome! It's good to be a runner! Oh yeah, and negative splits too! Mile 1 07:30 Mile 2 07:52 (wicked head winds) Mile 3 07:33 Mile 4 07:25 Mile 5 07:07 Mile 5.1 00:34 (5:56 pace) It totals more than 5 miles because those are Garmin numbers. My goal was to hold my pace just under 8:00 m/m. I kept thinking to myself "I can't run this fast!" Okay, let me say it again: It's good to be a runner! ------------------ Allen Freeman allen@allenf.com www.allenf.com [This message has been edited by affreeman (edited Nov-10-2007).]

Allen< great run!! Congrats! Edaville, now that's the Carver area correct? My son's football team played there in the latter part of September I think. Anyway, that is quite an improvement, good job.Chris

Great job on the improvement! Were they still harvesting? I ran that a few years back and we could see them harvesting cranberries from one of the bogs as we ran by.

Believe it or not, I don't know. I don't think so, but I'm not sure. It's amazing how little I see when I am racing. When I ran MCM I remember running up and down the Mall, but I don't remember seeing any of the monuments. There's just way too much to think about and pay attention to - my pace, my footing, whether I should go left or right around that runner I'm about to catch, looking ahead to the next turn to see if I should be drifting left or right across the course, etc., etc. - that I never seem to have a chance to glance around. ------------------ Allen Freeman allen@allenf.com www.allenf.com
