For the fourth weekend in a row I had a PR. This time in a 5K with a 22:12. This 5K has a men's only and a women's only race with the men's race at 8am and the women's at 9. My time was only good enough for 7th place in my AG out of 31 and 64th out of 297 overall in the men's bracket. My pace was fairly steady the whole race. The course is a little hilly and has lots of turns, but overall it's a good route for downtown.I need a break from racing now as I'm a bit burned out. I also need to focus on getting my long runs in on weekends in preparation for the marathon in December. I'm taking a break from racing until mid-November when I run a Half Marathon. ------------------ Tag PS I wrote a slightly longer, different version of the report on my blog. Result was the same, however.

I let the first comment on this go, but I can't let the second one. Jen did run the women's race and had a 24:18 so I beat her time by over 2 minutes. I'm actually feeling bad for her right now because she's in a sort of slump for her. I still think it's because she's putting a whole lot of mileage in right now and hasn't given her body enough time to adapt to this increased stress level before racing. Once she gets adjusted to it, assuming she doesn't get injured before it's over, she will be a threat once again. Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone.

Tag, You know what, recovery time is a key part of the improvement process. I was reminded of that today. Yesterday was my first day off from training in over a week, and today after that day of rest I felt really good and strong. Remember, it's during rest periods that the body gets stronger. So don't omit those rest periods. Dark Horse ------------------ I'm a dark horse, running on a dark race course

I thought for sure you would be under 22 minutes by now! Rest and recover well, then get those longer runs. Congratulations on another PR!
