Worked all day Saturday. Got into Albany late. Sandwich for dinner, Powerbar and banana in AM, no time for full breakfast. Weather good, cool enough. Wore usual outfit. Started way fast, 1:42:12 first half. On PR pace up to mile 20, slowed and ran 52:50 for final 10k. Last year got PR here with 49:15 final 10k. Finish time = 3:29:07, only second time ever under 3:30 in 21 marathons. Best I could do with less miles this year. Sub 3:30 got me guaranteed entry to NYC 2008. This is where you should run if you need a BQ. I am happy. See you in Philly Nov 18.

Well done, Dr. WuNot the greatest job of pacing but I've seen a lot worse, including a couple of my own. To still end up with 2nd best ever for someone who has run as many as you is still a very good day's work. Congratulations

Congrats--and a Hemingway-esque report, well-done! I was looking at that race but stayed home and did the local one. Have you ever run the Hudson Mohawk in February? grins, A

I'm not really into copyright infringement. Maybe later. Thanks.

I ran it also. I only really needed a 3:30 for Boston, but met up with with a couple of young bucks who needed to run sub-3:10, which gives me a guarantted entry in NY for next year. We came pretty close to even-splitting the halves. It was the second time I've run this race. I agree with your opinion that this is the race to run if you want to BQ. I have to say it's the fastest course I've ever run Check out the stats... Mohawk-Hudson River Marathon - Results Albany, NY USA October 7, 2007 Finishers: 492, Males - 326, Females - 166 Male Winner: 2:31:02 | Female Winner: 2:51:52 Average Finish Time: 3:54:31 | STD: 0:34:51

Nice. I like your telegraph style of reporting. Not a wasted word in that report. Congrats.------------------ For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. - 1 Corinthians 1:18 - Barefoot Rick @ www.barefootrunner.org

I love this race. It was my (only) BQ run: in 2003 for 2004. Glad to hear you both had decent experiences there.

No, I'm no Stevie Ray (SR Lopez, a Kickrunner who's doing over 30 this year). My marathoning year for 2007: Boston, April: 3:59 (blech, I was sick) VCM, May: 3:35:06, another BQ. San Francisco, July 29: 3:48, very hilly. Adirondack, September 16: 3:39:14, a course PB. Mohawk Hudson, October 7: 3:29:07, only 1:53 over my PR. Coming up: Philadelphia, November 18. Want a PR and sub 3:25, but who knows... Mohawk Hudson is a faster course than Philly. We'll see. [This message has been edited by Doctor Wu (edited Oct-13-2007).]

Good job, Wu, congrats on the near PR. Kind of a concise report though, did you use up all your creative writing skills describing the San Francisco marathon ???
