Paul - good job! I also picked up my Nike pace band - actually picked up 2. One was for 4:15, my original goal, and one for 4:30 which I thought was my more realistic goal. I know I'm not heat tolerant, so I'm not sure what I was thinking. I actually lined up with the 5 hour pacers, but I didn't even come close to a 5 hour marathon. You did great in that heat!!! We'll have to see about meeting up at the Disney - I sure hope we have better weather for those races!!! ------------------ Sue

Hi Paul,Very interesting to read about your epic Chicago experience. Guess that Oklahoma heat training served you well. Thanks for sharing and congrats on the finish in such adverse conditions. I can't imagine how mentally upsetting it would be to see so many runners receiving aid along the way. ------------------ choover

Wow, what a report! Thanks for sharing your perspective on this marathon. I bet the organizers are wishing that hadn't moved it up a couple of weeks.

Great report, pfriese! And a smart way to survive this event. In better weather you would have that 4:15 easy. nice fashion ensemble too!

Great report..Paul...Glad that you are OK...I was sure thinking about you and our Boomers who attended the race...No, doubt, conditions were brutal....at least Oklahoma summer weather provided you with heat conditioning otherwise it could have been worse and no doubt backing off on pace helped to. You still had FUN...awesome.
