Short version – set in beautiful Western Mass, 70’ and started at noon – does it get any better than that? Official time was – 1:30:48This lovely race started at The Fruitlands – AS IN THE ALCOTTS FRUITLANDS – oops, sorry, got carried away in my brush with literary fame. It was a hilly, tree-lined course with breathtaking views that were worth running up the hills to see. My plan was to run between 1:30 and 1:40 – according to my watch, my time was 1:30:36. My mileage seemed quite inconsistent, but I think that may be due to walk/gu breaks at water stops (mile 4 and mile 6), the gradual hill that spanned the 5 to 7 mile markers and the hill that we were required to run up at the last ¾ mile. 1 – 8:29 2 – 8:30 3 – 9:13 4 – 8:11 5 – 9:17 (Gu walk) 6 – 8:58 7 – 9:43 (Gu walk) 8 – 9:26 9 – 9:06 10 – 9:38 (hill) All-in-all a very fun race!!!

(I take it you mean Apple Harvest Ramble )I think Portland agrees with you, La La (not very subtle HINT). This is a great effort, very close to getting under plan, after holidaying and dealing with schtuff. You inspire! It sounds beautiful. Did you get any apples? Have any pics?

Great race La Tort...and for a night owl such as myself, a noon start is very civilized. You ran well on a hilly course, and I'm with Sans...any pics of you and those breathtaking views?arf

La T, I've always wanted to run that race. The course is so gorgeous! Your pacing seemed spot on except for the Gu breaks! Next year I'd love to run this one...--Robin

Everything west of Waltham falls into the "Western Mass" catagoery for the big city folks. La T, This is a beautiful course. Glad you had such a good time. See you in Hartford. Tom

Not sure what I meant, but since I didn't harvest any apples and it was in Harvard (which apparently is Central and not Western MA), maybe I was just be efficient??? Where exactly was it? Could we get some coordinates? My my, La La, you are a speedy turtle! But, ahem, do I need to teach you how to eat a Gu on the run?

Nice run. When I lived in NY I had a co-worker (native NY'er) who referred to going to Jersey as heading "out west." Only in that sense can Harvard be called "western" Massachusetts.

pictures??? dg9 has it pretty close - I was in green and yellow. I resembled a reptilian limecicle - no fashion hose ... yetTramps - thanks for putting me on the map millbot - alas no apples were procured, but a co-worker did bing in a home-made apple pie today. It was delicious. Spareribs - lets let bygones be bygones and come on home! Econo - gu on the run sounds like a definite choking hazard tselbs - thanks!

Nice running La T. It sounds like a pretty place no matter where it was. The smell of overripe fruit tells our bodies its a time to shift gear for a cooler season. Its just a good time to be outside running through the Paradise. Glad you had fun. jjj

I think you may need to change your handle from La Tortuga to La Cheetah or something more fitting!Nice racin' kiddo -- you came in on the low end of your goal! But I'm not sure about that noon start ... that's my siesta time

Hi LaT,Congratulations on a terrific race (whatever its name, and where ever it was), and on just about blasting the bottom end of your goal time! Once Econo teaches you her secret of eating Gu on the run, you'll be dipping well below 1:30 on a regular basis. I'm glad the race was so scenic, although that's hard to avoid this time of the year in New England. I'll see you Sunday in Somerville! Jay

Very nice racing La Tortuga, but much too fast for a turtle.
