Thanks for the link, Pro. As sierra suggested, it's not available to me right now. I've made a note, though, and will check it again tomorrow or the next day.

Okay I'm back on and have just read all this, and Rich, you are correct that I shouldn't have called you an *sshole. I apologize for that as it was a bit much. There are a few things going on here and I just want to comment on them, the hacking situation first, as that is what the thread was originally about. Sorry Pro! No one deserves to be hacked. Not a small business, not IBM, not anyone. It is a vicious, wantonly destructive and senseless thing to do and I for one am sorry for you that you have to go through the frustration and hours to fix it. Like a virus, no one benefits from such an activity, even if some hacker argues that it forces the site to make itself more secure. (There are better ways to protect your site I am sure but I don't know what they are as I am an *sshole when it comes to technology.) When I made my original post I thought that you were the moderator of a site that was not yours, and I thought then, and still believe now, that it was misguided of you to move people's posts around, and not be responsive to a great deal of helpful feedback you got. If you are trying to start up a new and thriving forum the first thing you do is pay attention to the feedback you get from your new customers. That is a simple principle in business and it was clear you weren't listening. This provoked my response, as I thought the investors in the site would not have appreciated it. But I have learned since my post that you yourself are a financial stakeholder in this enterprise, and frankly, if that is the case you can do as you wish. It's your ship. But since my post, I see from your response and from others' comments that you did listen and that you in fact have made some adjustments to the way members' posts are shown. If that is so, good for you, and I hope the site overcomes its security difficulties and attracts a great membership. I doubt very much that there are any bad runners, or people who love running who are really, deep down *ssholes, but from time to time all of us take a turn playing the part of one. Best wishes to you Rich. Spareribs

Okay, when you hear the beeping sound, the oxygen masks will come down from the ceiling. Be sure to put yours on first, before helping those around you. But, at all times, remain calm.I am glad I don't know anything about this issue. I thought from the title it had to do with colds. Come to think about it, I am feeling an icy chill right about now. Someone might want to move this thread out of the Boomer area. I think the Galloway section is looking for action. The broohaha over the merits of run-walk have seemed to have died down lately. Edited to say: I didn't read all the posts before posting. Good to see people are starting to sing Kumbyya. And thanks for starting the thread Pro. It's a classic. ------------------ The longest journey starts with a single step [This message has been edited by spankee (edited Sep-11-2007).]

Does this mean the term "nazi" was appropriate in the circumstances?

Yes Tigger. Nazi was aptly used in that instance. Spareribs

Hmm! Interesting law! But I would not think it would be invoked by the third post, as in this case. From my perspective the term was used in a disparaging manner to mock Rich, and indirectly his efforts to maintain his site. It was done by someone who did not know him or the site. Coupled with the other comment it was clear that it was not done in a friendly way. As a friend of Rich and someone who has been on his site since day 1 (or maybe day 2) I am concerned with people who make statements about him/it in ignorance and then follow up with half hearted apologies when they realize their mistake. Might as well not make any at all. If one is "man" enough to make silly statements one should be man enough to apologize sincerely and unconditionally for any offence intended or not. Spareribs has to live with his statement now. Not me. I hope he sleeps well knowing how others perceived what he said. And that's my last word on this issue.

Hope everyone gets nice parting gifts. What do we have for everyone, Johnnie. But I got to say: I do love that Soup Nazi episode* *this reference does not in any way suggest, endorse or otherwise encourage the use of said reference without the expressed written consent of Jerry Seinfeld Inc. or its implied use in this thread or any other thread that might arise from this one. Here's a thought. Set aside the hacking for a sec.kickrunners (with rich at the helm) has been growing and changing. Over the past three months, rich and sierra have taken a ton of feedback from the site's users and have been enormously responsive to most things. When rich hasn't been instantaneously responsive, I just realized that perhaps he was traveling or moving (he just moved from Iowa to Texas) or doing other real-life stuff. And I reminded myself that he is paying for everything. He's not simply "a financial stakeholder", Spareribs, he's the dude that pays for everything and takes care of everything. When Boomers showed up, you didn't have your own area. But within a couple days of your request, you did get your very own subarea. Sounds very responsive to me. And you got lots of other features (like PMs) that you don't have here. Some of the complaints I've read sound like threats. Why the hostility???? Have you gotten similar snappy response from stuff in CR's suggestion box? Didn't think so. Has rich ever berated you like the admins here have been known to do (maybe not to you, but certainly in race reports and clubhouse)? Didn't think so. Did anyone ask you to pay? Did kick subject you to tons of ads, including a talking xbox ad? Nope. This group, and Spareribs in particular, might want to consider how you are coming across. Seems to me that kick has been enormously accommodating and welcoming. You aren't "customers". You are being asked to buy nothing. We are community members. And, frankly, you and I are consumers. Play nice. Everyone over there has been nice to you. Some threads got moved. PM him and your moderator and discuss it. <shrug> FWIW, I have no financial or technical interest in kick. I was the PRT's moderator for awhile, but I haven't been for months. I'm simply a community member who feels badly that a couple of you have chosen to take a dump, not just on the concept of kick, but on rich personally. Yeah, I thought the soup nazi episode was funny. It also was a sitcom. When I see someone... who is having a bad time right now... called "nazi" and "ass hole", it ain't so funny.

with all due respect SRLopez - I realize you are defending Rich and KR but I think we've beat this horse long enough now. When I read Ribs' apology, I felt it was sincere. I think Ribs initial post was a bit reactionary and not well thought out. But he came back, read through all this and extended what I perceive as a sincere apology. I believe he realizes in retrospect that it was uncalled for. I know some of the folks that have started migrating over to KR that made a few comments to Rich (on his board) about not liking the moving of threads bit have also since apologized, over at the KR site, for getting on him about that. Unless Rich still feels there are some unsaid apologies, I think this whole issue is dead right now. I think we've all moved on. Although I, too, didn't like the moving of threads bit when it first happened and said as much to Rich (in a diplomatic manner) and being told where we need to post certain things, once Rich explained his rationale behind those preferences (over at KR), I, along with others, came to a better understanding of what he's trying to do by requesting the boomers/masters branch out of their own sub-club and utilize more of the board. Unless there is something more going on that I'm not reading between the lines, I thought that once Ribs posted his apology to Rich for the name calling, that this issue is one of the past now and we can all just start over on a new foot, clean page, whatever. The original issue was with Rich and his decisions, so unless Rich is still holding out some anomosity towards the masters group, then let's put this to rest.

You're right, Tammy. So I am posting to explain why I showed back up, and nothing else. For one, I think tigger got brushed off a bit. For two, I think the "nazi" thing has been turned into a big joke, and I personally feel that's a bit sad. And, most importantly, while I accept Spareribs at face value for the apology, I also read part of it differently. Here it is: quote: But I have learned since my post that you yourself are a financial stakeholder in this enterprise, and frankly, if that is the case you can do as you wish. It's your ship. But since my post, I see from your response and from others' comments that you did listen and that you in fact have made some adjustments to the way members' posts are shown. If that is so, good for you, and I hope the site overcomes its security difficulties and attracts a great membership.
The first thing I bolded I think kind of diminishes what rich is really putting out there. The second thing I bolded reads as a bit of a slap, so I felt like comparing it to all the great "customer service" that you receive here. I know, people want the issue put to bed. Like tigger, I won't return to this. I just want others... Boomers... to realize that as a community you guys kind of DO come across like the clubhouse to outsiders. Sometimes, at least.

I liked the episode where the other guy decides that he should do the opposite of what he thinks he should do and he turns into a success. How does that one turn out? Doesn't he wind up being like the NY Yankees Assistant to the Traveling Secretary, and then lose his job because he was doing it with the cleaning lady on his desk? Or was that another one? Didn't Kramer remind you of Lenny on Laverne and Shirley? I mean with the unannounced entrances into Jerry's apartment.

Rich, quite the opposite--you're too nice, must be the Iowa thing. But the management of posts there seems too thin-skinned and it comes across as heavy handed control. To each their own, but not really fun for a lot of us who kinda sorta like to mix it up with a little chaos. KR is like cotton candy. (edited to add, not that cotton candy is bad, just not for everyone. Too bad you're getting hacked though).
