Congratulations, Tammy! Nice to have a new benchmark at a new distance. I like your competitive racing spirit too ... your determination not to let that "lady in the light blue shorts" cross the finish line ahead of you.
PJ
PS - I gotta find me some races where I can win an AG award!!

Way to go Tammy,

Very nice debut in what I consider one of the toughest distances. I liked the good, strong finish.

Keep up the good work

Felicidades dearest friend. What an impressive time!!!! You are getting good at this race strategy thing.

Enjoy the victory and show off your AG hardware.

Are you running the HM in the fall? When will your first marathon be?

Portland 08? If so... I will be there.

WTG Tamaskirtalina! Congrats on the well earned AG win. Oh, and the pink and black ensemble is a great combo.

Like others have said, the 10K is a difficult distance, especially with hills thrown in. You did great at it.

thanks so much for all the responses and congratulations everyone!

Nancy - I'm doing a HM on October 21 (Humboldt Redwoods) and then I'll be at Eugene next year (the first Sunday in May is when it is I think) - I'll do the half and am keeping options open for the full, depending on how my training goes this winter. I won't commit yet, but would like Eugene to be a debut marathon for me but ONLY if I'm ready. I won't push it.

I do like this 10K distance. It's challenging and a good workout, but not overly difficult. The amount of running that I do right now (20-25 mpw) bodes well with what you need to do a respectable job at a 10K distance, so it's a good distance for me right now.

Thanks again everyone. So nice to be able to come here and see so much support.

Very first 10K race and you bring home the hardware! Congratulations on the ag win! I knew you would be at 55 minutes, now you can smash the new PR to bits next time.

An AG win and cash to boot! Excellent job on your first 10k! Sounds like you had a nice time (as usual) and got to enjoy some other Boomer company.

WTG, Tammy

Tammy! I love the way you latched on to your target and brought it home! Excellent... and 1st in AG, what a treat! And always nice to win door prizes, too. Sounds like your debut 10k was all good!

Tammy, excellent debut at the 10k distance! That's the way to hustle there at the end and it paid off. I'm envious of the beautiful running scenery you have even though it means lots of hills.

I'm so jealous of you long-legged types...

I pulled up the results on-line today and she was one second behind me. I'm sure I ticked her off by beating her at the very end when she had a good lead throughout the whole thing. I probably shouldn't have done that and a part of me feels bad about it . . . . but I'll get over it! seeing the total results put it all in perspective for me. Granted I did get 1st in my AG, BUT I was 27/34 overall and 6/9 overall in the females. There were only 2 in my AG and the other 40something (44 I think?) was just a few seconds behind me. The first place woman was 55 yrs old and ran it in 44 minutes. So, in the grand scheme of things, it was a pretty average (if not below average) run, but for me and where I'm at in my running right now, it was okay.

I'm a lackadaisical runner and now that I have a pretty solid year of running under my belt (skirt, shorts . . . ??) it's time to start pushing myself. I've had no IT pain for one year now (knock on wood) and have been able to run pretty consistent since Sept.06 . So time to start cranking it up a notch and pushing myself beyond my comfort level . . .

thanks again for all the responses. You folks really are the best.

It was way more than okay! Sometimes there are funny AG results. In our race, the lady who came in at 1:26:38, I think dead last, won her age group 45-49 because she was the only one. And if you think your time should have been faster, just check your watch-I bet it had a faster time.

Taminicealina (aka Taminator) -

it's a race and you would not have thought she was bad at all if it was opposite. Would 2 seconds have been okay for you? 10? one minute? see?

And there is nothing average about you, or anyone else here either whose running keeps you more beautiful and healthy that 99% of your contemporaries. Hardware is a testimony to you and you alone and has nothing to do with anyone else being there or not.

Now go beat half John!
