fred, I have no idea what my HR is when I walk, but it isn't very high i am sure. I don't even breathe hard. And Liz, I feel no discomfort walking, which is why I am doing it.Rich, that half is a good measure of where you are, how far you have come. Of course you will have better times to come as Jim points out. We have all seen those results from you. You have come far however. Well done. Pro, isn't it great to do a long run like that with a strong runner like busiman? Keeps you focused. So you ran some pretty quick finishing miles I bet, huh? Spareribs

Nice run Euphoric. Let us know how you recover after this run vs. no after-run recovery food. I'm going out for an easy 3 or 4 miler later, but am in the process of making bread right now. The old fashioned way, btw, no bread machine, just jump right in...

Liz, enjoy your day off. The weather can't get much better than this.Rich, recovery was too good. I've been on a ladder all afternoon putting the last coat of paint on the final window restoration of the season. Only 7 more to go. I use the same bread machine you do and find it's a great upper body workout. Hope everyone else had great weekends.

Monday - 10 miles, inluding Fleet Feet 5k in 19:11 (PR).Although I was scheduled for 10k, I opted for shorter race like I'd been talking about earlier this week. It's been reaching 100 all week in Davis and the sun was already shining brightly at 7:30 while I was warming up. Temps were only in 70's when race started, but the were gaining a degree about every 8-10 minutes. I don't think they affected my time at all, but would have started to take a toll if I'd had to go much further. Spits were 6:08, 6:09, 6:15. :39 (19:11) I might do a RR later if I can catch a nap. Hey there Euphie here I am too...Long Labor Day week end and it was fantastic! Rich - congrats on a nice run, I agree with Jim and think that considering all things, you may very well be ahead of where you were last year and in for some really fine races if you stay healthy. Jim - WOW 19:11 5K and a PR very impressive indeed. I am in awe of your running right now, keep it up buddy! Fred - I thought you ran those high miles simply because you could! Seriously though you always amaze me with your workouts...I want to be like you when I grow up! Ribs and Liz hope things get better for you two, I know it must be tough. And just to show you all that I do indeed take heed in what you all say...not always easy considering my type A personality...as I too tend to like things scheduled and layed out perfectly. Anyways, considering our family plans and my aching right knee I took Saturday off and enjoyed a round of golf (18 holes) and our 5th annual family Labor Day gathering by the river at our house by the river. Then on Sunday I had a long run: 18 miles - 2:32:56 - (8:29) much of this was done on the beach at sun rise...truly spectacular to be there, and my knee is feeling better. Then I enjoyed a wonderful day at the nearby camp of one of my running friends. Then I took Monday off as a rest day (very unusual for me) and today my knee feels really good. I'll be breaking out a new pair of Asics 2110's today (just ordered 4 more pairs) for a scheduled 5 x mile repeat workout at 5 to 10K pace. We'll see how the knee feels during the 2.25 mile warmup to see if I give this one a go or not, but right now I am feeling pretty good about it. ------------------ My User Profile "Keep on Running" Bob [This message has been edited by bobscamman (edited Sep-04-2007).]

Bob, your Type A came through loud and clear in that report! When I sound like you wrote I know it's time to cut back on the caffeine. Sounds like you had a great weekend. I just broke out my last of 3 pair of 2110s. I recently bought a pair of Brooks Axioms and really like them. They're a more neutral shoe like the 1110s.Jim, ditto what everyone else said. Look forward to reading the report. You'd have finished the race just as I finished tying my shoes. Long story, shortened for your convenience: 5 miles. Forgot watch, but they felt strong. Fred you are so right about the cooler weather. Hope you all have a good one!

4 miles on Saturday while we were camping in Central Oregon at about 2000' elevation---- I sounded like a locomotive with all the huff and puff. Followed by several 12 oz. presses throughout the rest of the day and evening.Back home, 5 miles this morning in about 10 m/mi. All weekend I declined all invitations to waterski, wakeboard and surf behind a boat saying how nice it was for a change not to have anything hurt. One game of football and the ham is mad as a hornet at me... go figure. Good to see you all keeping up the good fight while I've been gone. glidegal

Welcome back glidegal, 12 oz. presses eh? Tuesday Myself and 3 buddies ran a lazy 5 miler today. Just right after Sunday's race. And thanks for all the kind words about my race. One of these days I'll nail one of the things and live up to the praise.

I love those shoes! If the Brooks fit your foot well, they are beautiful. The Axiom is actually a "lightweight trainer". Much less shoe than the 11xx or the 21xx. Still a medial post though. And just enough shoe to get through a marathon. If you like it, you should also like the Brooks Adrenaline. Very much a like an Axiom but more of a "real" shoe. Craig

Wow, Pro, a simulpost! Actually, went to the shoe store with the intent to purchase Adrenalines, but the trusted shoe guy felt they were "too much shoe" for me. I like the fit, they seem lighter than the Asics, and were about $20 cheaper than the Adrenalines. No marathon on my horizon, so they should be more than enough shoe for me. Now have 3.67 miles for September! Caught some type of bug, and so "rested" from Thursday until Labor Day. Beautiful weather too. Oh well. Hacked a few times during today's run, but got comfortable, ran (typically) too fast, and was fine. I'm in taper-mode anyway. So now I needn't feel guilty coming to this board.

Tuesday – Bright, sunny and 76 degrees with a slight breeze.2.25 mile warm up – 19:58 – 8:52 5 x 1 mile repeats with 3 minutes recovery: 6:55, 6:30, 6:29, 6:18, 6:09 HR – 140 / 162 Started slow and built up to speed, felt tired at the end but pretty good overall. I could feel the right knee but nothing I can't work through certainly not as bad as it felt last week. And I did break in a new pair of Asics 2110's as I said I was going to do. We'll see how I feel later on. 2.25 mile cool down – 21:10 – 9:25

Interval day on the Pfitz calendar for me too but nowhere near as fast as Bob's.I almost messed this one up bigtime. I had 8 miles total planned with 6x600 meters with 90 seconds jog between repeats. 78 degrees and 91% humidity - just the way I like it. So off I went on the 1st one, feeling good and loving life. Running solid and mentally logging all the checkpoints I know by heart. Okay the breathing is hard now so I glance at the Garmin to see how much more I have of the 1st 600m. Oh Carp! I only have 17 seconds left on the 1st jog interval?!?! I had been watching for my 1/2 mile mental milestone and had mistakenly run 1000 meters rather than 600. I stop and walk to recover as best I can. But with only 17 seconds recovery I'm gonna really feel these repeats with barely any downtime between the 1st two. I survived but suffered more than I should have. Good pace for me though ... 2:46 (7;29 min/mile pace) 2:43 (7:22) 2:39 (7:11) 2:34 (6:59) 2:39 (7:11) 2:35 (7:01) Stupid Byll ------------------ Bill's Profile

It appears there is a greater time lapse between the MRI's and sending the film and report to my doctor, so I am still on pins and needles waiting to hear. I think they are getting tired of my calling though. Spareribs
