To deactivate email notification. . . Go to your profile page (My Active). Make sure you are logged in and have completed the account confirmation step. On the left side, click on Edit Preferences and there will be a series of options for you to specify just below General Settings. If you click on your screen profile (or anyone else's) and click the email notification, I think that actually activates and de-activates email notice to you when that user posts. . . . I'm no expert though. Egret

This undoubtedly will be the longest thread in the history of CR! Good luck! Hopefully we'll see everyone in the next life! PJ PS - when is the conversion date?

I'm with canfit. When do we make the mass exodus? And is this a forced move? We really gotta go? Who decides all this for us? It took me forever to get logged back in and my password, profile, and etc. changed/set up. ksrunr split tween two worlds

I'm always the last to know. I finally opened this thread and I just shrugged. Okay, a minor inconvenience. Probably just the same furniture in a different house. So, I go to active.com and register. I get the activation email, I log in, and I start to check it out. The site was clearly designed by cheap prison labor. I have yet to find anything that resembles a running log. I tried going to something called active trainer, thinking that might be prison slang for a training log. Apparrently not, as that rrequires me to register yet again, and appears to be a pay site for training assistance. Is there a free running log on active or not?

I hope we don't have to move. It is way to slow for my ultra slow connection speed and may not be usable, sad to say, might have to return to runners world, which is slow but nothing near as slow as Active. pie, the old active and the "beta" active are separate. and you need two accounts separate emails to do both. i do not know if there are implications of this. i had an old active name of ced53. i created a new one of TPFD. Not sure if this helps or not. caig

I get the impression that the training log is a service you would have to pay for, outside of using the community forum. I suppose we could ask the 'Moderator Guy' over there what he knows. . . .

Choovie,I had problems too. I set up my ksrurn account and even replied to DaveAA thread. Then tried to log in again but couldn't. Was told to log in with a temporary password sent to me. I couldn't do it. Either technologically challenged or password wouldn't work. They sent me another and I got on and changed to permanent password and edited so as to not get email notices. Now I can't find the first 2 threads on boomer and beyond. Is CR going away or are we being stolen by aliens?

DaveinAA's thread got zapped. Maybe the party's getting too big and out of control.I'm rating responses to my thread, if anyone's interested. Oh, and I couldn't cut and paste into a message without disabling pop-up ads. Ain't gonna.

chooverina.I had to use my email address as log on name and then the password. If it doesn't work; it gives you the option to retrieve your password. I think they'll send you a new temp until your changes are made. ksrunr

I asked assorted questions of CR. they are predictable. (that is, the questions) The answers are as follows: (italics mine)"The running log transition will occur sometime this month (we are not sure of the exact date). When the logs have been migrated, the login page will be on Coolrunning, and more information about the migration will be provided. Also, your log data will be saved, as we are transferring the data over, and not deleting it. Hope this clears up any confusion." (#2) "Unfortunately, I don't have the answers to some of your questions regarding the migration, because Active is handling that mainly on their end. What I can tell you though is that Coolrunning.com isn't getting taken offline or anything like that. We're just moving the logs over to Active's tool because it offers better functionality than what our servers can currently offer. If you'd like, feel free to register at Active with a new/original username. At worst, if you didn't end up using it the option would be there in the future if you wanted to use that username on Active's forums, etc. Sorry I can't provide more elaborate details, but hopefully this offers a little better insight to the transition."

Okay - this is news to you all, but I am secretly a super hero. Honestly - I am a miniature Amazon warrior. I measure in at 62", but am really a tall woman in a short woman's body.Okay - we can do this. The logical move is to go over to our new host, think long and hard in advance of what your second, third or fifth (4 is a bad number) handle choice would be. Sign in - appreciate the new tools and let us know who you are. Okay - Mustang Sally - quick - who was she in 2006. Exactly - Mustang Sally is our gal and we love her at MS. Tramps - you must stay - really. dg9 - we will help name you - it will be fun! Any questions? Hi Egret - jumping up and down waving wildly - or something like that! I see that we've been asked by the moderator over there (Rob) to refrain from posting. The link to the new board was put up in error today and the new board will not be ready til the fall. So the threads that have disappeared have likely been deleted by him because it's premature to begin posting over there.

I make a point out of waiting until the last minute to do anything anyway, so if I turn my computer on one day and coolrunning dot com is not my home page, I guess I'll deal with it then. All this talk of beta something or other and temporary passwords for different accounts bla bla bla is giving me a headache, besides CR loads fast (usually) and this active thing seems to be moving at a snails pace. Once again, the little guy is swallowed up by an evil mega corporation. another metaphor for the times in which we live, oh well, on the bright side, I've wanted a different username for some time now.

If this CR forum is staying, then I have no use for active whatsoever. They can keep their running log, wherever the hell it's located, and I'll find another one. I thought they were shutting down this forum or I wouldn't have even bothered to register over there. They are like the 500 lb. gorilla, trying to have a little something for every sport from soccer to badminton and it's all badly done from what I can see. I'd rather go run a maze than navigate that site. Let somebody get a monopoly on something like doing on-line race registration and they want to take over the world. Blah!

I am repeating what I said before. I think that is is in our best interest that everyone has at least one other person connected to this thread, who has your email and phone number. If someone gets lost "in the shuffle" we can rescue you.It would appear that we can continue talking in here, but only the running log is going to change. Make sure you are backing up the running log. One day it will be gone.......where?.....who knows. ------------------ vista129
