...The Guest Host Edition.

July. Barefoot, bare-chested, barely functioning, send us your miles, blessing each one because it wasn't run while wearing a toque, gloves, mittens, crampons, and a wind mask.

Be sure to post:
1. your total mileage for the month (indicate if this was a PR)
2. any race PR’s (include distance and time)

Revised June numbers (incorporating late posters)
total 12508.7
average 122.6
median 114.1
N 102

Original thread is here

Background for newcomers: At the end of each month, Boomers are required by the National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations to note how many miles (or kilometers) they have run that month. Don’t ask why; there is no substitute. You must be 40+ years old and run or walk at least 1 mile to be eligible. Sorry, only running and walking numbers are counted. Figuring out a way to incorporate cross-training numbers would cause my head to explode. The deadline is midnight EST on the 2nd of the new month. The numbers are tallied and posted (usually on the 3rd) in a simple analysis that includes various awards, serious and silly. No matter how few or how many miles you have, please post! Every mile is an accomplishment. Final, revised numbers that incorporate late-comers will be reported with next month’s announcement. However, late posters are not eligible for awards and will be subject to screening for ethical, educational, and professional fitness according to the standards of practice applicable at the time of posting.

Please be gentle with your guest hostess: she is working with an unfamiliar spreadsheet and must resist all temptation to automate it into a .NET-driven online wonder with chrome and sparkly bits.

MustangSally,

So sad to think of you sitting there barefoot, bare-chested, and barely functioning.

Er, do you have a photo?

Why, yes, I do... but my firewall is objecting to the link for some reason. Can't imagine why. Use your imagination. Maybe it won't let me post an image until I've run myself back down to fighting weight.

Which brings us back to the point: Where are your miles, sergeant?

Hold your horses, MustangSally. They'll be coming round the mountain when they come. The month isn't over yet.

I'm definitely taking tomorrow off, so...

73.6 running miles in July
83.9 cycling (doesn't count -- I know)

Pretty much a meh month, still stuck in the 70s, but actually about par for the past few years. So not bad for me, especially considering the sharp increase in bicycle miles.

July and August always means tough mileage due to the heat & humidity, but I guess I've got some long runs coming up to prep for the Crim in a few weeks.

Hey Mustang,
Thanks for taking this over as guesthost
Sitting @ 231.9 for July, todays is a rest day, scheduled for 9 tomorrow so will probably run 9.1 to round off the mileage to 241.0.
That will be the most miles for me in 3 years I hope with the marathon training to increase next month.
No races, no PRs, just a runnin
pj

Edited to add: Make that 241.4 for July YTD 1175.6

My whopping total for the month is 2.5 miles. This is, without saying, a PW. Hip injury has my firmly on the DL but with some vague hope for at least a moderate improvement in August.

Thanks Mustang!!!

Running = 54
Walking = 12
Cycling = 32
Swimming = 8

You know - as long as Tramps isn't looking - do you think that you could sneak in a swimming function into the spreadsheet?

*Boom!* (that was my head explodiating, as promised)

There are a bunch of things I could do to the spreadsheet, but acting on them would
1) be viewed as interferin' with Tramps' stuff;
2) give him a reason to assume that I'm continuing for, like, ever; and
3) put me on the slippery slope to the aforementioned chrome-and-shiny-bits .NET web-enabled application with hooks into the Google Maps framework. And some other cool stuff.

None of these are favourable outcomes for the health of my marriage.

90.5 sweaty miles.

Thanks much, Sally. On first read I thought, "Why can't you wear a toga in summer?" Then I realized you were talking about a hat and not a wrap.

I ran 254.7 miles in hot and humid July, a monthly PR in spite of the H&H. (Now I need a nap!)

1125.1 miles for the year-to-date.

Marj: Run-87; Cycling-123
Me: Run-117.5; Cycling-63
La Tortuga-We also walked and swam, but I guess it won't be counted here- (neither will the cycling-but we keep careful records-so might as well note it).
Thanks for taking over this month Mustang Sally.
