It's nice to see our numbers up again - the average mileage for July is the biggest we've seen since the March marathon madness. We also welcome a host of new participants, who helped make up for some slaspareribsckers who were too proud to contribute their mileage while on the DL.

BOOMER MILEAGE SUMMARY
Previous months are revised to include late posters. For comparative purposes, 2006 data is listed below each month. Highest values in each column are highlighted in yellow.

N =number of Boomers reporting
TOTAL = Total Boomer miles
AVG = average number of Boomer miles
MEDIAN = half ran more miles than this, half ran fewer

Here's a picture of the overall overachievement by all of our frens...

Disclaimers, etc.
---These numbers only include running and walking miles (and km’s) and therefore cannot do justice to those of you who run by time or who have a well-rounded approach to fitness that includes lots of cross-training.
---Summary miles for earlier months are revised numbers that include late posters. As a result, average and median numbers listed there may no longer coincide with award winners.
---Let me know if I’ve made any significant errors (e.g. leaving you off an honors list).
---If you forgot to post your miles for this month, go ahead and do so now. I’ll revise the final numbers (but not the awards) when I announce next month’s thread.

Mustang Statly--I was in awe of the work put into the mileage summary table and the flashy colored bar graph. But taking the time to tabulate the rest of the honors, awards, MIAs etc is a heroic feat in my book. Truly unbelievable. How many espressos were under your belt at this point? You were rockin and rollin!!! Thank you so much! Miss June Average

wow - what an awesome job you did Sally!!! I just love looking at all these numbers and seeing all the PR's people set this month. What an amazing and inspiring group of athletes we have here!

Thanks again for filling in for Tramps. You might have done too good of a job though and I'm thinking Tramps might be offering you a job in the near future . . .

Aawww, shucks. Twarn't nuthin'. I mostly plagiarized Tramps' purple prose.

I had this idea I'd try to play on the old theme from the run/cross training thread and put all the miles on a map and maybe bounce around the world. That's easier said than done. The first try, I realized that Vancouver-Halifax didn't even touch 15000+ miles. When I changed the destination to Rio, Google Maps happily directed me to Miami, told me to swim for 9000km, and then, once beached in Brazil, continue on my merry way.

So I bounced around North America a little and found out that I could get the distance in if I did Vancouver/Edmonton / Thunder Bay / St John's / New York / San Diego / Miami / Portland.

Which seemed like a lot of running.

Evanflein, I've repaired the PR list. Sorrrrry.

K

Wow! Looks wonderful, Sally! I'm impressed, but not surprised by the terrific job you've done.

Nah, you didn't scare me off. I just don't keep a good log of my miles most of the time, unless I'm in "serious" marathon training mode (which can change daily. ). 25 years of running and I have partial logs for three years. Call me an anomaly.

I'm still alive and functioning, just blocked from the site now from work.

July was 148.8 miles at 8:20 average pace
1270 miles for the year.
Ran my first ever trail race - a 10 miler. That was an eye opener and quite fun.
Ran a local 5k today and nobody fast in my AG showed up so I won it with a pathetic 21:45 or thereabouts.

Hi Sally,
Sorry I missed the tabulations. . . .
These are some greta stats, thanks for all your work!

I ran 210 miles in July. Better than any other month in 2006 but still short of the amount I was doing at this point in the training cycle last year.

Year to date:
1,145 miles

Hey MustangSally, thank you for putting the thread together this month. Is it too late for me to include my piddly mileage into this months numbers? If not, I managed to pull myself up enough to go out and run 113.8 total miles in July. I really do not want to whine but I think I have succumbed to the pressures at work and DW’s recovery from the injuries sustained in her accident back in November. I have not enjoyed a run in months and find that I really do not even care to read, let alone post, about daily runs, races or just about anything else. Heck, I haven’t even been participating in my favorite pastime (usually boarders on obsession), planning our next trip to Disney World for the inaugural Tower of Terror 13K race in October. However, now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for my wife I am starting to see brighter days ahead. OOPS, sorry for the digression but thanks for listening.

Sally,

thank you for the informative and incentive-spurring monthly compilation, especially for the chance to be Mr. Average with this month's goddess Queen Median (though I'd have to be way more than average to keep up to her).

Having to have a hugh month of a first-time-ever three ultras to be "average" is awe-inspiring to realize how many boomers rack up such massive mileages on a regular basis and makes me appreciate how important those 3.1, 15.2 and 21 mile months were with the other G&D'ers earlier in the year.

Though it sometimes happens that it's not always possible for everyone to post herein (and in the weeklies and ilene's Intrepid and linked RR's too), you can be sure your efforts and your elite-level analytical and magical graphical skills are greatly appreciated by all of us who are so lucky to be part of the boomer fellowship.

thank you again.
