It hurt me to read this race report! But still, you showed your toughness and mettle by dusting yourself off, and resuming your race. I am just glad you weren't more badly hurt. Yes, we all need to be careful when we are out there.

C-Mom ... running with a helmet next time? Snork!

Ow, ow, ow, Bob. Those falls can happen so quickly, "ass over tea kettle," that sometimes you just react, not think. You're a tough runner to get up and finish ... and with such a great time, all things considered.

Hope you didn't get any blood on that nice shirt.

Trudging along at 7 minute miles... oh my. Amazing finish for what you went thru. Good job and your goal race will see your goal time, I'm sure of it!

Goodness gracious, Bob, we can dress you up but can't take you anywhere!

This definitely qualifies for this year's Guts and Glory award! I'm sure glad it wasn't any worse (i.e. broken nose) but honestly, it looks pretty d@mn bad as it is! Did one of those man pals of yours give you a nice, fat steak to put on it?

Hope you are healing well!

You will definitely go sub 40!

Bob, way to hang tough to the end. Yep, I would have bagged it, no question. I'm not much for blood and guts.

Your last picture looks quite similar to my father-in-law after his last 10K. He fell hard about half way through, but insisted on finishing. Then the missus banned him from racing, and soon he stopped running. I imagine you have something different in mind.

Hey Bob!

Great report!

And yes, I did hear the "thud" as Bob hit the pavement. I looked back knowing someone had fallen, yet not knowing who, only to see my friend on the ground and getting up. I hollered and asked if he was O.K. and got the signal to go...which I did but feeling very unsure of continuing without really knowing what condition he would be in. Finally I get to the finish area and Bob's wife calls out to me. I begin playing all these scenarios in my mind on how I will break this to Elaine and where he is at that time when who appears? You guessed it! Bob pulled it together to finish with a very respectable time even without his "pit stop"!

So, here's my recap. Bob starts out with an attractive younger female runner, gets tripped and despite the fact that he's bleeding profusely finishes the 10K just shy of a PR and now has a great story for the after race get togethers. Talk about stepping in crap and coming out smelling like roses!

Great job Bob!

Ouch! Takes a lickin' but keeps on tickin'. Remarkable recovery from the spill and an amazing fast time. Imagine what it would have been without the fall...below 40, no sweat. Well, sweat maybe, but at least no blood! Great job!

Bob... Tough AND Fast!! Great handling the painful mishap! Most would have quit! I can't see running without arm swinging. That must have been a real challenge! Congrats on a strong race.

Bob, that's a tough break, but you toughed it out. Very impressive. That is quite a gash not to mention a doozy of a shiner the next day. Thanks for the detailed report. I hope the eye heals quickly.

Bob - sorry for the late reply, but just getting caught up now. All I can say is "wow - great job!". Having done a face plant this past winter, I can appreciate how you must have felt. What I admire is your guts and determination to recover and run such a great race after your fall.

I thoroughly enjoy your RRs and the way you analyze what is happening during your races. Just want to encourage you to keep running, keep posting and stay healthy!
