Way to go Ilene, 1st in AG, negative splits, and appropriate "Flag" attire. One question - where are the photos?

We want photos!

Congratulations on a great race.

Oops, sorry no photos. I was on my own and nobody had a camera that I know of.
(I did add some to the watermelon run report though )

Millbot, it was a minute and a half!

A great race and RR, ilene. From your fashion report, you were a real Yankee Doodle Dandy, too!

First in AG, first in fashion, first in the hearts of her boomer fans.
ilene, you make us all want to spend the Fourth of July wrapped in your flag, . . . I mean, the flag.

Nice AG award too that can be used instead of just stuck in some drawer.
Hugh negative split = another PR if you could've kept goin' to a half. could you?
So many good races and results in SoCal. Thanks for posting yours.

Don't sell yourself short that you won because it was a small race. The fact is that you ran like a pro, with a faster second half. That is what all that strong base training allowed you to do, that no one else could do in the heat. A very good race for you, and congratulations. Spareribs

No kidding, millbot! Excellent, excellent, Ilene! You deserve this. You have been training hard and this is your reward.

Looking great is the icing on the cake for the observer. You are a hot ticket.

ilene, well, i'm glad that in your effort to avoid racing me by running some unknown small-town shin-dig way across town you did an excellent job, especially with those negative splits. next year, watch out... i will find you...

Nice race, PR and RR, Ilene! Super 2nd half too! Looking good is most certainly the 'icing on the cake' ... and also the "syrup on the pancakes"!

Nice job on the AG win. I hope you weren't cherry picking on the fourth Your race outfit sounds perfect. Great job cranking it up in the last 5k. BTW, I cannot imagine you, after all these races, being nervous while you warm up.

MarkGuy,

Oh, she's not nervous for herself. She always wins a prize. Ilene is like the great miler Noureddine Morceli, who said, "When I race my mind is full of doubts--who will finish second, who will finish third?"

Another fabulous race report from the goddess Ilene! Sorry I'm late to the party, but I just got back from vacation and I'm now catching up.

I'm glad I got to see the picture of you in your patriotic shorts. There just like I fantas...er, imagined them to be!

Great job on the race, and congrats on another 1st AG place.

Ilene,
I love your preface and report.
This sounds like a fun race.
You ran well and you are in excellent condition. I am always envious of your :thick luxurious ponytail", as I wear my thin kinky curls on my head.

Congratulations on a race well run!

The picture had me up out of my chair and saluting the flag. Another great report. I'm glad you were in such a patriotic fervor, and glad you had such a good time.

Fantastic looking shorts and a year best 10k on the 4th of July A great day all around!

(You put my ensemble to shame with the additional red hair band and white visor. Must better prepare for next year.)
