“My theory is to strive for consistency, not to worry about the numbers. If you dwell on statistics you get shortsighted, if you aim for consistency, the numbers will be there at the end.”
—Tom Seaver, baseball pitcher.

So? How’d it go this month? Let’s see. Have fun.

Be sure to post:
1. your total mileage for the month (indicate if this was a PR)
2. any race PR’s (include distance and time)
3. Since we’re halfway through the year, this month would be a good time to add a note about year-to-date mileage.

Revised May numbers (incorporating late posters)
Total = 13,511.0
Average = 119.6
Median = 120.6
Original thread is here

Background for newcomers: At the end of each month, Boomers are required by the Bureau of Statistics of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to note how many miles (or kilometers) they have run that month. Don’t ask why; globalization…we’re all connected…yada, yada, yada. You must be 40+ years old and run or walk at least 1 mile to be eligible. Sorry, only running and walking numbers are counted. Figuring out a way to incorporate cross-training numbers would cause my head to explode. The deadline is midnight EST on the 2nd of the new month. The numbers are tallied and posted (usually on the 3rd) in a simple analysis that includes various awards, serious and silly. No matter how few or how many miles you have, please post! Every mile is an accomplishment. Final, revised numbers that incorporate late-comers will be reported with next month’s announcement. However, late posters are not eligible for awards and, remember, all numbers are for entertainment purposes only.

I'm early into this thread, but here goes...

1) 72.7 running miles, 97.8 cycling. That's typical June running mileage for me, but definitely a cycling PR.

2) One race PR, June 3 at the Dexter-Ann Arbor HM with a 1:57:17.

3) YTD is 376.1 running and 242.6 cycling. Again, typical for running but a huge increase in cycling. My running mileage tends to go up in the 2nd half with training for 2 or 3 long runs, so I could be on track for my best year since 2002.

Ran - Mary's Birthday Marathon 6/17/06 (3:41) but got lost a couple of times on the trails and actually ran 27.5 miles.

Thanks Tramps!

1) 59 running miles
2) 22 walking miles
3) Swimming - I know, but I humbly request that you and the international Boomer Miles committee as well as the FEDERATION OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA consider swimming mileage. According to my calculations (disregarding temperature, water velocity and other confounding factors) a simple 4:1 conversion would do. Therefore my 7.4 miles of swimming would calculate out to 29.6 miles running.

2) One race PR, June 28 was a 3.5 mile CC at 33:50

Incorporate cross-training mileage? Let me think about that.

June is my Summer R&R from running month, so my running miles are . . . nonexemplary. But I've become at least consistent with my cycling this summer.

June Miles: 37.5, including Half-Marathon 6/2/07
(Cycling miles: 404.9)

PR's: None

YTD: 443.2 Running

Eek. I'm 756.8 miles from my 1,200 mile goal for 2007. I dunna think so.

Well, I won't be running again until Sunday, so I guess my June is a closed book.

78.6 monthly miles
377.6 for the year (Just edged out Rochrunner!)

Last year to date I was at 86.2 for the month and 379.9 for the year, so I guess I am pretty even steven.

Thanks Tramps!!

I confess, I chose the Tom Seaver quote at the top because it sums up my month. I’ve been running consistent 40+ weeks and it just dawned on me the last couple of days that this was adding up to a big monthly PR for me—well, that and the fact that there were five Saturdays in June!

180 miles (PR)
YTD 849 miles (ahead of schedule for my goal of 1600).

Tramps, keeping us on track and inspirational illustrations to boot! Hey, I know a guy who wrote the plan to get Central Europe's NATO guys into that region 12 years ago. He's going to check on that requirement because it sounds a little fishy.

Down this month. 88.3 miles.
