Great job! Your training and hard work show. Every race is a PR and will be for years to come, I predict. Congratulations on 1st in age group win! You rock.

Holly congratulations on a great race, it is good to see all of your hard work paying off huge dividends. I remember 5K's like that where I started off a little to fast and the whole rest of the race hurt and I questioned my sanity for doing this to myself but couldn't stop pushing through to the end . . . but I guess no matter how you run them if you want to do well 5K's hurt.

Holly, nice job on the smokin' race. You go out and put in a ton of miles for the marathon, then fly through a HM and 5K. You need to find a 10k to run!

Okay Holly. Enough with all the "happy replies". You're gonna get a swelled head from reading them, including my earlier reply, and a big head just won't go well with your 5'1" size.<Spareribs and Dark Horse Mode ON> What were you thinking going out that fast??? In those conditions??? Are you crazy??? Your splits show you were seriously slowing down which is totally understandable. You could have run that time, still PR'ed, and McMillan still woulda predicted your time accurately had you run the 1st split at 7:40 or so. Then miles 2 and 3 wouldn't have been nearly as painful as they must have been (though 5K's always hurt). Next time, take into account the heat (as listen to the heat & humidity expert breger1) and start out easier so your splits are even or maybe slightly negative. <Spareribs and Dark Horse Mode OFF> Bill ------------------ Bill's Profile

What an amazing time Holly!! To run that fast in that kind of heat is very impressive. I can only hope to run that time someday, but I know with certainty I could never do it at an evening race when it's that hot out. Good job . . .no . . EXCELLENT job!!------------------ Tamalina

Wow, Holly -- you are really cookin' lately (and not just in the heat). And about being faster at 42 -- just think how fast you'll be at my age (60)!------------------ - Runnin' in Rochester Rochrunner

WOW. I guess if you run till you puke, it REALLY feels good when it stops hurting! I'm more of a hot weather wuss than you, and I applaud you for going out hard when it was that hot out! (I think I would have done an easy jog, or just gone straight for the cold beer!) So what was your award for 1st in your AG? Hope it was something nice - post a pic?

WTG, FastHolly! Since we're talking McMillan, it should be pointed out that those predicted times are under equal or good conditions. So your best 5K time is faster than the race you just ran, as others have said. Which would predict a faster HM, and we already know you're going to run a fast marathon. The PR's will just keep coming for quite a while. Have a piece of cake and Enjoy.------------------ Fortunate--a volleyballer with a running problem Profile

It ws just a regular medal, nothing too fancy. Actually, the Flying Pig medal is the one I find to be REALLY cool, and everyone got one of those.
Breger - I was experimenting with the "run all out and then die" method of 5K. Next time I do one, maybe I'll try to pace better. I blame it all on the HR monitor strap and it's strangling ways - if only I could have caught a breath, I'd have done better...
