I loved your RR Rose and am so glad you acheived all of your goals. Outstanding! I'm also glad you decided not to walk toward the white splotches. (might've been a Ben & Jerry's truck!)It was a real pleasure meeting you and Ralph, and I hope we get to visit more down the road. WTG Rose! Steve

Oh, dear. I'm with Tramps on this one, Rosie. Yikes! (You really need to be careful following anything Pro says. He's trubble.)Still, I'm happy to hear you achieved all your goals and were able to have fun with other Boomers. What's this about Breakers? Portland, Portland, Portland!!!

I have to say that spending time with you was one of the highlights of the weekend. We really must do it again.Congratulations on your very successful adventure - it sounds like it all went according to plan. Except for the med tent part. I was very cold once I stopped running, so I imagine that you were struggling to stay warm for a good long time. But you're one tough Rosie. ------------------ Predawnrunner, aka mrs W.R.F. Beer

Wow! You did it! This report made me smile. Very impressive race from a very abbreviated training plan! Other than your med tent visit it sounds like an excellent day and Boomer weekend. Great report and pictures!

RCG, you are brave. I'm still askeert to run a marathon with proper training. Cool that it turned out okay and that you met your goals!I wonder how many runners were taken out by that giant flowering weed?

RCG.....Think of how you would have done with a longer training program. A sub five hour finish is definitely impressive. CongratulationsI think this medical problem that happened to several in this race was a "plant". (you have to read that several times to get that). Thanks for sharing and for the neat pictures. ------------------ vista129

Just wanted to thank you all for your support and kind replies.Dr. Wu: Yep, I finished ahead of the folks in the photo. And congrats to you on another fine VCM. Ilene: Thank you for your help during my training. I invoked your name a few times during the marathon. To self: "Ilene said my long run was a "confidence builder", I have confidence." I did no gu or sports drinks. I ate 7-10 Sports Beans every 45-65 minutes and took water with those. RassledassleMike!: There was beer on the course and beer at the end but, it was inferior beer! Once I tasted Lou's Brew, I was spoiled. Hee hee See Fly and BeerRunner! It was great spending the weekend with you guys. We already have CT (Mystic Places Marathon, 2005) CRGIA! PRO!: THANK YOU! I could not have done this without your direction and plan. You were the Wizard and I was Dorothy. Thanks for helping me. Tet... Jon: Thanks for your rendition of The Road Not Taken... you are so clever and kind. And yes, with this being my 11th marathon... I have learned that hydration and nutrition will fill in the lack of training blanks... Sports beans and water and a Tootsie Roll (Thank you Candy Lady!) TomMcNally: Yep! Still on for The Breakers! I think I will train for that one. We need Rhode Island... And they improved the course! Dark Horse, Euphoric, and all y'all: You are kind. I think I was smiling because Ralphie had just hollered at me and it was a relief to see the big guy, so I smiled the rest of the way. Millbot: I would not recommend my marathon methods to anyone... this was my 11th marathon although I hadn't run one since BAP and I ran Philly in 2005... I feel like I know the marathon and I certainly respect the distance, hence the run/walk plan for the VCM. Thanks again, Boomers!

Wow! 3 weeks training and you still beat 5 hours? And lived to tell about it, too, although it was a little scary at the end. Courageous is the word that comes to my mind, too. Great job!------------------ Holly

Nice job, Rose! I knew you could do it. I've always said my temp drops dramatically after I run but never took my temp to prove it. I'm glad you are feeling better and that the meds and RS were there to help you through. Kudos to RS for the dry clothes. The outfit looked great! Go Hokies!

What a comeback marathon Rose! Well done, even on a shoestring training budget. I'm glad the pro was on your advisory panel.I'm also glad there will be more of the budget alloted to preparations for the next one. CONGRATS, egret

Hi Rose Great report and pics. Reading through the report and looking at the pics, I was thinking how well you looked and when I read the last bit, I had to scroll back and check the pics again but still thought you looked fab. It must have been that short program. Anyway, you are a very brave friend. Roy

Rose - well done!Pro gave you a good plan, but he may have forgotten to mention the ice cream. that if yu haven't completed sufficient training, then eat ice cream - the extra calories will make up for the lack of muscle tone - or something like that. Let's talk marathons when I get back!
