How could anyone ask for more, Temperatures 42 degrees to start and 62 degrees at my car when I finished. Sun raising over the water at mile 2 was an awesome sight. Ran well out through ten miles, 85:30, hit the half marathon mark at 1:53:40, but was having some sciatic nerve problems by now, my right legs stride felt like it was about 2 inches shorter than left leg, but it was not too bad. Made it to 25k at 2:14 30 faster than 2 weeks ago at GR. At 20 miles I was getting pretty gassed 2:57:30 about 6 minutes faster than Martian, Cramps got really bad from there on in and at 25 miles I was getting worried about not breaking 4 hours, my time was 3:48:30, About this time Highway Star by Deep Purple came on my Ipod, I put my head down and dug deep and pulled an 8:30ish mile to finish off a great day. My final time was 3:58:57.85 a new PR by 17:23, 72 out of 118 in my age group, 585 out of 1293 overall, my 8th marathon and third in 2007. It was a perfect day to be alive, I met two fellow boomers Steve BatMan, Big Guy Moose from this forum and in the future I hope to meet more. I after i crossed the finish Line I knelt and prayed to God and thanked for the day and the experience he had given me today, and for my entire family, my sister-inlaw had cancer surgery Last Monday, The say she is Cancer free now, I am truly a blessed manRun long run well Marthon Derrick ------------------

Derrick,Great to meet you!!! Thanks for the shout out when you were coming down the other side. I bonked at 22M and just couldn't get the juices going to finish like you did...next time! Want to do this one again and maybe can schedule a time and place for boomers to meet. As a cancer survivor myself, it is awesome news on your sister-in-law. It is a great feeling knowing there are prayers and efforts being made for you to get well...really what it is all about! God Bless you and yours each and every day, Uncle Moose

Good news all around, probably more for your SIL than you, but 17 minutes as a PR is a nice side benefit. Well done. Spareribs
