Great run and report! I wish I had been a few minutes faster so I could have seen your finish. I'm so glad you included some of the details I left out. Like the beer. That was so tempting, and I'm glad you got to enjoy it. I just smiled and dashed on past. If you knew me, you might find that hard to believe! About pitching your gloves-experience is the best teacher so I suspect you'll leave them on longer next time. Kept mine on almost to the end. How about the little Celtic music group? That was cool and your report is bringing it all back for me because of the headphone issue.------------------ My Profile

Yes Karl, the Celtic music group was awesome! We cheered them on too! They played even louder then I think.

Congratulations on cracking the marathon club. Welcome. As others have said, not the traditional strategy to have some beer at mile 18, but everyone needs to figure out what works best to maximize their experience. Most of us are running not racing so the goals as much about how we feel as about our finishing times. Congrats once again.

Congrats solarrunner on losing your marathon virginity. ( I haven't used that in a sentence in a while ) It sounds like you ran a good race on a hard course. Next time though, try meeting up with some of the other boomers at the pre-race dinner. You'll really enjoy yourself.John

Congratulations Solarrunner! Be proud of your accomplishment. There is nothing like the first time. Perhaps we'll meet at another race in the area soon.
