Yep - Everything went right 4:10:07 a PR by over 19 minutes - could have kept running for another hour, could have run a little faster - Did I really run 26.2 miles?? Yep.To All - Sorry I haven't posted much these last 6 months - New job - 100% Travel - Training in 8' of snow in New York, Whine Whine. Decided to run Cleveland to gage progress - didn't think I could meet FF, or JJ, etc as I worked 22 hours until Saturday morning in New York, Drove to Cleveland - got my packet, chip and went home to say hello to wife and family, with a slight fever Took a couple Motrim pre-race to keep the fever in check, crossed my fingers -weather was perfect - slight drizzle at mile 3 - early sweat tasting very salty? focused on powerades at the first several stops to combat, Had an entertaining run with some gals from Pittsburgh for the first 10 miles. I had Planned to run with the 4:15 pace group. By mile 10 had drifted forward, occasionally looked back to see them to ensure I wasn't going off plan too much, thinking I would lsow and they could drag me home. Took another Motrim at 15 ->Mile 16 just started feeling good and strong and better, and worried that it was tooo good to be true. By Mile 17 there was a constant stream of folks being passed. Just had fun running along the lake, around the Browns stadium. Was this where they put the wall last year? Held back the throttle some till mile 23 knowing this was just too good to be true, passed 23 then pushed harder, ran the last mile sub 8 feeling refreshed? and finished on cloud nine. This was my 9th marathon. Never had one go so well. The fever returned and raged early evening - but has gone away thankfully this morning. Maybe I should try to figure out where I got it Good runs to all PTS ------------------ My Web Page

Isn't it great when it all comes together. Congrats on your race and pr. Maybe you should get sick more often or maybe they slipped you something besides motrin? ksrunr

Phil, That is the most fantastic PR!! 19 minutes, holy carp!! You just got stonger and better feeling as the miles accumulated! And all that with a 24hr bug. WOW! Glad it went away cause that can be dangerous I'm doing Motrim on my next marathon perch

Woohoo! Congratulations PTS! How awesome to have such a great race and PR by such a hugh amount. It sounds like the weather this year was much better than last year. I can see this being a very fast course if the weather cooperates. Good thing those Motrin kept your fever at bay long enough for you to have a great race. Meg

WooHoo!!! WTG!!! I also PRed, but on the HM and by a mere 55 seconds. My girlfriend (who was to be doing her first full) got sick at mile 3. I passed her at mile 4 and she looked bad, I thought her sprained ankle or bad knee was bothering her. Turns out she was running a fever. Luckily it didn't hit me until the finish line. I needed to throw up but couldn't (did plenty of that later) and I was burning up and having wicked chills at the same time.Yeah, except for that brief shower the conditions were awesome!!!! ------------------ Running sober, one step at a time!!!My Profile

What a wonderful report! How does stuff like that happen? This further supports my theory that there is a lot we don't understand about running. By all accounts, you should have been feeling really carpy in this race, but you felt greta instead. Last mile in sub-8??? Wow. Congratulations! ------------------ Predawnrunner, aka mrs W.R.F. Beer

Held back the throttle 'til mile 23? Wow, I want to run like PTS. Wish I could have felt as good as you at the end. You have grit to run so well with a fever and little rest before the race. Well done, PTS! We'll meet up another time, OK?
