Great job Karl. a PR two weeks after a marathon and the way your times keep coming down is amazing. It was Greta to meet you Saturday, I also thought on Sunday that I should have run this one, but I'm sure we will meet again. Dave

Great job Karl! I'm sure the Ave of the Giants prep'd you well! As it turned out, I PR's the Palos Verdes 1/2 marathon on Saturday, and it was much hillier then Ave of the Giants, so something must have prepared us for our races this weekend. At least with this race, you didn't need to camp outdoors the night before. Glad you had focus to keep going, a PR of 15 minutes is pretty awesome! Sherie

Thanks. I just noticed you didn't post a RR. With a great race like you had, legally I'm advising you might get fined.

Karl, as you know that is an enormous improvement in such a short time. Please try to stay healthy, not necessary to run so many marathons. If you want to run a huge one you could take a break and train for a very serious effort now that you know you are still growing in this sport. i don't mean to be the iconoclast, but you have potential now to run faster. This would be a good time to consider what you want to do next. Very well done. Spareribs

Hi Karl, Though I don't always write in your RRs, I do read them and am impressed with all your hard work and travels. You did very well this weekend! Hope you give yourself an extra nice recovery period. Best wishes, dromedary. BTW, Mr. D says hi to you too.

Karl,Thank you for coming all the way to Olympia. It was so much fun showing you our little town and introducing you to the NW Maniacs. I'm glad you enjoyed the course. For some reason I knew you would PR on it (and not many people do). -Dove p.s. If you keep coming to the west coast to race, you might as well just move here.

Well done Karl. Congratulations on the huge PR. Olympia is a very pretty city, and it sounds like you enjoyed it.By any chance are you considering running the Portland Marathon in October? or Bellingham? Nice effort! ------------------ Labduck

With your Avenue and Capital City marathons in two weeks and TomD-like next-day running, by any chance are you considering running around here again on a certain Saturday and Sunday?

Thanks everyone! My legs feel 100% better today, now that I'm home and moving about. I'll try to answer your individual questions:Paul-I'm not signed up for a race. Can you believe it? I wish now that I had signed up for Chicago because I heard it was closed. Dove-I think it would still be cheaper to live here, wouldn't it? If you see a government attorney job there, though, feel free to e-mail it to me. John, the pictures won't be up for several days. I just took in the camera to get them developed. Labduck, yes I'm thinking of running Portland or Bellingham as a fall goal marathon and not NYC. Tet, sorry I can't get away next month. Edited to add my muscle condition ------------------ My Profile [This message has been edited by Karl Rysted (edited May-23-2007).]

Karl,I'm glad to hear the recovery is going well. That indicates that you're in good condition and that you could have run faster (if you had wanted to pay the price). Now you can build on your training and keep those PRs coming! Congratulations. ------------------ Fortunate--a volleyballer with a running problem Profile

Karl..... you are a maniac! Wear that yellow singlet proud!I can't believe how you're stringing one marathon after another and you're able to throw in a PR! In my prime I was able to run 4 marathons in one year..... but they were really spread out throughout the year and I couldn't even think about PRs. Congratulations on some fine running and racing this year! Jim

This is the post that was supposed to have photos from the disposable camera I took. However, I encountered a small technical problem but hope to have them up very soon. They're not the best quality but better than nothing.[This message has been edited by Karl Rysted (edited May-29-2007).]

In case you're still interested...The whole gang Rasmussenmp attacking his dessert Yours truly attacking my dessert Ready for our recovery run the next morning. For the record, it was Dove's idea, and she originally planned a 10-miler. I agreed but then she suggested a run about half that far, and I was very relieved.
