I hope the other Cleveland runners have better reports than mine.... started the weekend off on the wrong foot by failing to meet runninfinn and her dh because I totally forgot to call them at the expo. Then I couldn't find my piece of paper with their bib numbers to look for them at the end. So I at least got to talk to the Finn when I called to apologize after the first failure.Weather was perfect 60 degs and overcast at the start. After a slow first mile due to all the runners I was able to pick the pace up to where I wanted and crossed the 13 mile mark at 1:42:51. I was feeling good, mechanics were fine, things were going well. That carried on thru 16 miles and then I slowed a bit to just over 8 mm for 17 and 18. Things started unraveling in mile 19 and I struggled badly in that last 8.2 miles. Final tally was 3:58:57 - I was hoping to hit 3:30. While I never got sick during the race I've been staying within close proximity to a bathroom and unable to eat much for the past 8 hours. There is some definite rumbling going on in the ol' digestive tract....

Rob, I'm sorry to hear things didn't go as well as you hoped. You were off to a good start and on the way to your goal before things went awry. You gave it a good try and ended up with a very respectable result. Hopefully, your "innards" get straightened out quickly. I expect you will be back stronger than ever.TomS ------------------ My Profile

Sorry you had difficulty. You had been training well too. Sometimes you just don't have the day. May even be you were coming down with something. Good job to tough it out. Spareribs

Tough race robp. Your training is definitely better than your result today. I hope you bounce back quickly.

Without a detailed analysis of what you wore and what you ate and drank during the race, I am unable to guess what happened. So I'll just send you feel better vibes-->>{{robp}} That was still an awesome race, congratulations!

It sounds like a rough 2nd half robp. Still you've had a respectable time. You also gave me a heads up on what to look forward to this weekend. Thanks.------------------ Never regret anything that made you smile, SteveP My User Profile

That sucks Rob, but you finished and you ran strong for 19 miles. You will meet your goal the next time out. Can't wait for that RR. ------------------ Running in wellness Liz Lizs Profile

Darn it, Rob!Geez, I thought the good fishing day was foreshadowing to a good marathon day, alas, it was not meant to be. Okay, but now, you have that fabulous mileage base so's you can go run some really fast shorter races, if you want, Or just do some more fishing...

Rob, Very nice job getting to the finish line. No such luck for me. Flu bug visited three times until I finally dropped at 12 and sulked back to my car. See you out there this Summer / Fall. Jim

Damn Jim, I'm sorry to hear that about the flu getting you. The way I see it is that now we both have tremendous bases built up for whatever racing we do this summer. Get well in a hurry.

OMG... I ran Cleveland and had a bug too, as well as my girlfriend!!! I did the HM and PRed but shortly after I finished I was sicker than a dog, still am. My girlfriend, who was running her first full got sick at about mile 3. I passed her and our friend (who was her motivator) at mile 4 and she didn't look good. Somehow she managed to get as far as the HM mark and stopped.------------------ Running sober, one step at a time!!!My Profile

Rob... You ran a tough race with stomach issues hitting late and energy leaving a bit early. Way to keep pushing to break 4. I know it's not what you hoped for but the next one will be better. So many people got sick in Cleveland... hmm... Did you all go to the same pasta party??perch
