beautiful town, beautiful race, and beautiful day. 11000, actually their were 5800 finishers according to paper, runners registered for the 25 k according to announcer at start
of the race. temp in low fifties at the start almost perfect day for run. Last year we had low 40's and rain most of the run. Started out with 9:00 pace group for the first 2 miles but moved out after that 1:07:32 1st half, 1:08:10 the second half.
Second half has all the hills but they end at 12 miles so really only the 4 miles have any real hills to contend with. I did lose some time in the second half bathroom break, but only a minute or two. Finished 25/55 in the light heavy div.
also finished in top 2200, 2350 first half, and 2150 second half. Sciatic nerve has raised it's ugly head but should be ok for Bayshore in 2 weeks.
Run long and run fast Marathon Derrick

Great job, dshclio. You definitely were too fast for the 9 minute pace group. It's nice to have a nice day and nice setting for a race. Congratulations on a job well done. Also, best wishes for the sciatica to "unrear" it's ugly head.

Nicely done Derrick! Very even splits despite the hills. Sounds like you are ready for Bayshore. Hopefully the taper will let the sciatica go away.

It was a beautiful day for the Riverbank run yesterday and you did a great job! I hope you sciatic nerve calms down for you - that can be pretty painful I know.

Congratulations on running a great race!

Derrick that's a nice pace, and pretty even splits considering the bathroom break. I have heard this is a very pretty course. Good luck at Bayshore.

Way to go! It was a great race, wasn't it? I posted a report as well. I hope you're feeling better today. Do you have some good stretches/exercises to keep the sciatic problem at least somewhat under control?
Are you doing the Bayshore marathon, 1/2 marathon or 10K? I was considering the 10k cuz that's all that's open now, but not sure if I will or not. Have you ever done it?

Good going Derrick. As I have the sciatica issue too, I sympathize. Always tough to get on stride. You ran well and I hope you get some relief before Bayshore. Spareribs

Great run Derrick. I love that area. Grand Rapids boast two "Chuck E Cheese". Fine dining. Take care of the nerve. I hate being beat by injured runners. I'm looking forward to meeting boomers in two weeks. Happy feet brother

Good job, Derrick! I can see why it would have been a great day for a race -- nice and sunny, but cool.

You should try the marathon there, too. I don't think that much of the marathon course is the same as the 25K, as the marathon is mostly flat. I ran the HM there a couple years ago, and that was almost totally flat as I recall. It's a smaller, less-crowded event by far than the River Bank Run, or the bigger marathons in the state.

Derrick - 11,000 registered, but only 5,800 finishers? How did that happen? Well done, and in spite of sciatic nerve trouble. Good luck at Bayshore! (Where is Bayshore, btw?)
