Just for fun, here are six photos from the race. I was lucky enough to have several soldiers take photos of me. Some even took brief movies of me with their digital cameras! I don't know how to post movies here: probably a good thing. Can you tell I'm a Pre fan? One of the other runners, whose name was Sergeant Sargent--reminiscent of Major Major in Catch-22--has been calling me Pre for the last couple days. It's nice that the youngsters know who he is. My outfit made me recognizable from a great distance, so my colleagues Sgt. Camargo and Lt. Prewitt, who zig-zagged around the base for an hour and a half taking photos and short movies of me, were easily able to locate me. Before the race, ready to do battle: Below is Sgt. Fortuna, the local organizer. This photo gives you an idea of the monstrous hills we had to climb throughout the course. If you look closely, you can actually see me coming up the hill, almost halfway up the right edge of the photo--look for the tiny smudge of yellow. Here I am coming up the same hill on the first of four loops, the wind blowing out my clothes and making me look about 50 pounds heavier than I am: I stopped to drink at every water stop; there were four on the loop, so roughly every mile and a half: Leaving the water stop: Finally, here I am early in loop 2. Midway through loop 2, I was 11th out of 41 runners. The rest of the way, I passed two runners and one runner passed me. So I ran alone most of the race: Dark Horse ------------------ I'm a dark horse, running on a dark race course

GReat race photos DH. At lest you weren't having to elbow your way through like some of our other Boston folk.As to Pre......My 25 year old daughter is trying her best to name her soon to be new puppy that. She is getting some opposition from her significant other....He is not a runner. So at least some of the young folk know who he is. ------------------ Patty

Oh my gosh, when you were talking hills in your RR I didn't imagine them that steep. Wow. I also was wondering about a fashion report in your RR. Pictures are even better.

What hill? I don't see any hill! What in the world are you wearing around your waist? A webbed belt? Was that to hold your pants up? Great photos! I hope you take another when you get your medals. Congratulations again, that was an amazing achievement.

Great shots! Did the reflective belt work? Could the Army have a more drab PT ubiform? Glad wore the yellow, but the hair looks a little long.

Nice run & the photos definitely bring it home for those of us back in the states and elsewhere for the matter.I'm not sure who had the toughest course, you or those of us who were running Boston? I think I would rather run Boston, those look like some pretty mean hills and to know you have to do it four times, a real mental challenge. It is good to put a face with a name or profile you look great, long hair and all! Great job Dark Horse, congratulations. PS - Gotta love the reference to Pre. ------------------ My User Profile "Keep on Running" Bob

You weren't kidding about hills. Usually the camera tends to flatten a hill out, but that is unbelievably steep! Nice going.Prime Rib has a "Go Pre" shirt in Oregon colors. A couple of years ago he wore it at Boston when the family came up to watch me. Almost every runner who went by him yelled something about the shirt or said "Go Pre" back to him. He was amazed at what kind of attention that shirt draws. One more thing DH: if you go back and look at your form in these pictures, you are getting a good bend of the trailing leg, which suggests that although tired, you ran with excellent form and energy. Very nice. Thanks for the pics. Spareribs

If the camera adds 50 lbs., you must weigh 75, with those boney legs in those Army shorts. And how long is that hill? And did it get longer with each lap? Those choppers? Like the start of the NY Marathon! With barbed wire!
