Great race - nice time and woohoo on the PR (in Boston! no less), especially given the "break" you took fixing your heel. Congratulations! Rest well. Lou

SS- Congratulations on a very fine race! I'd imagine that it must be very difficult to push the pace late in a marathon with heel problems. You looked surprisingly strong when you passed mile20. We all chuckled when your hubby cursed in surprise as you showed up a bit early and he had to get hisself out there to meet you, but you could also feel how proud he was. (He's good people for sure...and I'm glad to have met him). You are a very tough and talented runner. Get yourself 'healed' up and recover a bit before your next adventure. Nice race.

I have to ask, since everyone else is too polite and handles you like an heirloom ceramic figurine: why were you wearing heels in a marathon, anyway? Crazy Canadian chick. Dark Horse ------------------ I'm a dark horse, running on a dark race course

Oh goody, something left in the tank at the end and you ran your fastest marathon ever!! Man, are you in great shape! I am so glad for you, and expect to see some hugh racing from you next fall. You are such an exciting and talented runner. I can't wait to hear the stories of all the meet-ups too. Get some sleep now and rest well. Congratulations on a fabulous Boston!

Sans Great race and report, from the pace you look like you flew round with no problems. Hope you have recovered from the heel thingy and you are okay. You had a great race besides that glitch and your hubby sounds like he had a ball as well. Go on SANS Roy

My fren SS, what a fantastic race you had! I expected you perform well but this was beyond expectations! And you did it on an uncooperative heel, in horrible weather conditions and with fuel left in the tank! It's exciting to imagine what will happen next in your running career! I am anxiously waiting for what the PT has to say about your foot. I am truly hoping it's nothing serious, and just wanted you to know that my upcoming race is no longer important to me, it got demoted to a training race so I don't want you to even consider running it with me and aggrevate your foot on it! More about that in e-mail. Big huge congrats and a big hug, j

SUPER race Sans!!!! Gigantic congrats! You are amazingly fast....I can't fathom being able to run like that and even later in the race, with the heel pain you described.....I especially liked how you elaborated about the "goo" . So great that Mr. Sans could be with you to cheer you on. Again, what a sweet race.....congrats!arf

Its gotta feel good to PR Boston. Great race SS. I tracked your time because I knew you were primed. I figured the wind was taking its toll--sorry to hear about the heel. Rest and recover well. Thanks for the report and insipration. JJJ

SS, it's been hard for me to wade through all of the RR this week, but I've been saving yours up! I'm sorry you had such tremendous heel pain. Does it continue to bother, or did that mid-race soleus stretch seem to solve the issue permanently? You ran a fantastic race despite long travels, poor weather, and surprising pain. You rock! I'm sooo glad to have met you, but sorry that we didn't get to spend as much time together as I'd hoped! --Robin

SS - to get a PR in Boston during a Nor'easter!!! Awesome. I'm sad to hear you had heel pain and hope it's doing better. I can't imagine having anything left in the tank with 10K left to go and on top of it, not being able to use it! You still had an incredible time and I enjoyed reading your report. So what's the diagnosis of the heel? Any other marathons planned for this year? You're awesome!

I'm with Lynden on this one. However, after racing the slippery, mountainous trails of Vancouver Island, it's hard to figure out what a smooth, unobstructed course could do to your heel, especially at a PR pace that wouldn't seem to allow much leeway for any heel striking at all. No doubt any more though, you're even faster on the roads. Now get back in the mud where it's safe.

Sans SouciMy congrats on a great race ...that is an awesome time and PR ...and to think you had so much left in the tank. Can't imagine what you will do in '08! I will be remembering your tenacity, mental toughness and spirit when I tackle my marathon in a few weeks! PJ
