It doesn't surprise me that you ran well, but to run so well in those conditions, and then to have heel problems toward the end, is really remarkable. As i said in the Boston watch thread on Monday, you are tough. I am very impressed. Great report too. I hope the heal heels. Spareribs

Good job, SS. The Boston RRs are coming fast and furious now, but I'm reading and enjoying every one. You were one of the five that I was tracking on the realtime-tracking page, so I was waiting to hear the report that went along with the time. Those results in those conditions are something that you can be very proud of!------------------ - Runnin' in Rochester Rochrunner

Souci.... You really nailed it. I can't tell you how proud I am of you. Oh the running part is great, but I love your mental toughness and pure guts. I know a lot of boomer guys are starting to look over their shoulders as you are going to catch us. Fantastic job! BTW, that park bench in the Commons, it got blew over and then was found floating in the park. Kelly

Wow, Sansational. That's fantastic. The kids asked how you'd done as soon as I picked them up from school on Monday. They say, "Yay, SS!"I'm all sorts of worried about your poor heel. Things that go pop/squish aren't part of the design. Take care of yourself!

What an athlete you are! Loved the bit where you lo fived the kids and smiled and thanked folk on your travels. You did a great race with a dodgy heel, what are you going to do with no probleme, an amazing time me thinks. Well done SS and recover well.

That is utterly fantastic. You must have blown past me around Wellesley sans souci as I finished in a leisurely 3:42. That is incredible to PR at Boston in those conditions after a winter training in Canada. Even more amazing with the late heel pain. Can`t imagine what your goal will be for a flat, fall marathon. I`m thinking that you should be next contestant in the Tall versus the World competition.

Congratulations on your speedy race and PR, SansSouci. You clearly had a great time in spite of the heel problem. We'll all be anxious to hear what the prognosis is and how it heals, hopefully quickly.TomS ------------------ My Profile

Wow! What an awesome report. It was such a pleasure and an inspiration to read.It must have been an amazing experience and as my husband always says 'Nobody can ever take that away from you'!! Congratulations. I hope the feelings stay with you for a long, long time. dang girl - you are one tough cookie!! To read that you had some pretty significant heel pain towards the end, the weather was working against you and you still pulled off an amazing speedy time and energy left at the end, just goes to show how well prepared and what strength and fortitude you have. Nice job on the PR!! ------------------ Tamaskirtalina

Great Job SS, I too followed your progress on the berger spreadsheet Monday and am quite impressed with your PR in those conditions. You're really one tough cookie. I hope your heel is going to be OK. Say hello to Mr SS for me also.John (dues paying member of Sans Souci fan club, Portland way south, division) PS Labduck and I both thought of you during last Saturday's pearblossom race in Medford, when a small contingent of pink tutu wearing pink faeries ran by during the race.

that's funny John. . . Those pink tutu's runners passed me by around mile 5 and I thought of SS also! Of course, SS was MUCH cuter in her faerie attire! And they didn't even have wands. ------------------ Tamaskirtalina

awwww sweetie -- you had such an unbelieveably awesome time, I was surprised to hear you were struggling with the foot. I watched your training with much interest, especially when you started incorporating what seemed to me to be two LR's per week. You conditioned so well for the distance. I hate to use the words "proud of you" -- seems almost condescending -- but I don't know how else to put it. Words aren't my forte. But you, to me, are the perfect balance between quality training / keeping it fun / mentoring others. I hope I have the pleasure of spending time with you some day. Cindy

Dear SS -What a race report! You captured the joy and the pain of the Boston marathon. How I wish the PBJ family had met their idol, the Pank Fairie! Bravo, SS. Rest the heel, and recover. You are magical.

Speaking of the infamous Nanaimo Bars, I took a picture SS, you are one tough runner and one fabulous lady and Mr SS is a gem as well. It was FABULOUS getting to hang with you both. Let's do it again soon! [This message has been edited by hally (edited Apr-21-2007).] [This message has been edited by hally (edited Apr-21-2007).]

SS, you trained hard for this and richly deserve the PR. Sorry to hear about the heel. That was quite an in race correction. I hope you recover quickly and get back to race the entire course. And I hope you get some shuteye soon!Mark
