Hello all. I did the 50 miler at McNaughton this past Saturday. This race consists of a 10 mile loop that people were running anywhere from 5 to 15 times. Yes, you read that right - there were people out there running 150 miles. I kind of felt bad only running 50. (although not enough to make me want to run more than 50).I posted a brief report of my McNaughton 50 Miler on my blog. The race didn't go well for me. My previous 50 miler I finished in 10:20. This time I was out there 13:40 or so. It was a tough day out there. I couldn't even imagine running 10 or 15 loops of that course especially under the conditions. ------------------ “Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go.” - T.S. running this kind of distance is just too difficult to wrap my brain around, Tim. I know the time wasn't what you hoped for, but the fact that you were out there running for over 13 hrs is simply amazing to me and actually renders me speechless.

Thanks Tammy. It really is simple - left foot, right foot, repeat.

You are one tough runner timlooney! I know I could never do 50 miles of repeat loops. Congratulations on an awesome achievement, and rest well, you deserve it.

Tim, sounds like some tough miles in there. Regardless of your time, I have to think you're tougher and better prepared, both mentally and physically for The Western States in June. Nice job to hang in there and finish.Mark

Good going Tim, I ran this one in 2002 and 2003. I really enjoyed myself there both times. There was not anything longer than 50 miles then. I had heard about the 100 miles, but the 150 miles is new to me. That would be some challenge. TomD

Well done Tim, at any speed. Ultras are tough events for tough people. I am amazed anyone can do them. Great job. Spareribs

Congrats on the finish. Regardless of conditions those loop- course ultras are psycho-killers. Its so easy to bail at the start/finish after the trail has dished out its worst. It takes a tough runner and someone to give you a little push back on to the track doesn't hurt either. Your report was inspiring. Hope WS goes well for you. JJJ

Just the fact that you finished is impressive. There will be other days to beat previous times. I am in awe!!BR ------------------ Barefoot Running ... So easy, a caveman could do it!" - Barefoot Rick @ www.barefootrunner.org

"I kind of felt bad running only 50." LOL! Now that's funny. Marvelous job, ultra-man -- it's not right to focus just on finishing time alone.

Great job, Tim! I like many others here can only imagine what 50 miles is like. I'd be asleep after about 6 hours! PJ

Tim, incredible! The thought of 50 miles is beyond me. You had mud and treacherous hills to boot. I don't know how you did it. Guess that's why I'm not an ultra runner and you are! A huge congratulations!
