The road back from injury takes patience, but I've heard that the patience pays off and we come back even stronger.

So this is all part of your return to fitness and in any case, it sounds like everyone had a tough time.

You're still way fast, even at your PW, and your attitude is great. Now, go do something fun with your prize, while you plan your training for the fall.

Meg,

Good job, considering this was your first race since your SF (If I remember correctly).I too think you are wise to concentrate your efforts on the fall, and give yourself time to build up a consistent base. I'm sure your efforts will pay off in the fall, and I will be there cheering you on at Boston 08!

Wow – even for a PW, that’s a great time – you are fast, even at your worst! Looks like a great race for all the reasons listed, even if you didn’t do as well as you are accustomed to doing. Well done on winning some money and 3rd in AG and best of all, finishing the race without injury. You know it will only get better from here and taking the time to build up your base again will help keep you running injury-free and restore you to the standards you hold for yourself, speedwise.

meg, to echo the others, nice learning taken away from this race. Your running skills inspire me and we are lucky to have your posts on this board.
Interesting how our chosen avocation can thrill us or humble us in the span of a few minutes. You and Ribs are a pair: walk away winners with loot while lamenting your PRs are elusive. when I grow up... glidegal

Meg,

I can't add anything worthwhile to what the others have said, but I wanted to offer my congrats anyway. You deserve it, and it sounds like your outlook is improving now that the race is over.

Meg,
I am just glad to see your RR and hear about your running. This race was just a way point on the road back. As smart as you are I am sure it has provided some useful information that will help you take it to the next level on your recovery and training. Keep up the good work!
cheers and best wishes,
cfli

Meg, sorry you were a little disappointed. Looks like you are coming right along, though, after your injury. So really good news here. cj

GEEZ .. I wish some of my PWs would have resulted in the haul you made (cha-ching!)

Fall marathons are better anyway.

Meg - sounds like you are well along on the comeback trail... you'll be thrashing those other Masters in a few months. Its great to hear that you are getting back into things and I'm looking forward to hearing of a good fall marathon from you.

Meg,

I think you're wise to forgo a spring marathon. SF's take time to heal completely and can be re-injured easily. You are such a fine athlete that your recovery will be short and you'll be back on top of your form in no time. Best of luck, and we'll look froward to hearing about PB's.
