Really? This is your first? Cool, JJJ. Congratulations, Marathon Mountain Man!You know I always like to check on where you run, but that pdf (oh, and you need to remove the full stop to get the link) is 46 pages, man!! I love to read about all your home-made poultices, lotions and potions. What was in this one? Do you have one that stops the faststartitis? (BTW, we've all done it and sometimes learn from experience.) Lastly, do you have enough "puppy amore" to be planning another one?

A gutsy race and very common to go out a bit fast. But there is no point to people telling you that. You must and will learn it for yourself. I hope you are now making a mental checklist of how to prepare differently, pace differently, drink differently, or whatever other impressions you came away from this race with. You worked very hard and you got the job done. That's what counts. Wait til you see yourself fly through the next one. Spareribs

congratulations JJJ!Each and every race is a learning experience, but the first marathon is one you will never forget. Mistakes you make are easier to learn than being told about them so in that way it is good you went out too fast... Rest and heal yourself up so you can tackle the beast again. Nice job with the report and race.

JJJ, congratulations on your first marathon. You will always remember this one, it will stand out among all others. Now the good puppy inside of you must learn from the "bad puppy's mistakes". You can be told so many things by so many others, but you will learn so much more from you own running experiences. As for going out too fast I don't think there are too many of us who haven't been guilty of that one! Once again congratulaions, sit back and enjoy it for a while. ------------------ My User Profile "Keep on Running" Bob

jjj Loved your report and congratulations marathoner on completing your first one. That's a respectable time and so close to your goal too. It's been a learning curve for you and that's not a bad thing. Rest up and recover now 'puppy'!

Wow, I'm humble by so many kind and supportive remarks. I forgot to mention what troopers Tramps and his DW were to wait that 45 minutes for me to finish. Sans, I fixed the link to a better one... I think. The Granny Jessee's secret recipe: Olive oil, a good bit of confrey leaf and or root, hours in a warm oven , strain, and beeswax. to preffered consistency. A little Golden Seal and some Calendula optional. Ilene, I personally delivered your hug to Tramps. Holly, A fall marathon for me? You betcha. JJJ

Hello JJJ,I really enjoyed reading your report of your first marathon and I think you did terrific! Sounds like you learned some things for the next time around. That's funny about running into RCG's friend. It is indeed a small world. Also glad you had fun with the Tramps Family. ------------------ choover
