THE DINNER-----
....if I could have picked a Perfect Weekend, It would have bee this one...
......piejones was the Perfect Host, he got us all together for the Eats, gave us The Scoop on what we needed to know, and generally made sure we had a good time.......we did, Thanks Greg//////
......Vicky was Hilarious, and has a Mickey Mouse collection not rivalled in Western Civilization.......just don't say ''Omaha'' around her
........littlerock is great company, his strong running is impressive, and BOY does he know racing, plus he likes the Beer I picked.....
.....vista was totally psyched for his Half, and has lost his Maine Accent, (now sounding like he's from Jersey).......also, he agreed to take the SeeThru Shirt off my hands.....(and this guy can scarf up Nachos like a Wild Man).....
....Munch was funny and vivacious, a Real Cutie, when I told her my Race Strategy she said ''Just Finish''.......Wise Words Indeed..
.....Steve was funny and wouldn't get in any of the pictures (except one).......THEN managed to be interviewed by a local TV station........and is now a Star.......
--------------------------
THE RACE--------
.......total downpour at the start followed by sporatic rain as we continued.......
......I met my first Gallowalkers, and Mid-Pack Walkers, and had trouble getting around both..........they just kinda STOP without warning (who knew??)
.....at the first split, the guy called 11:15 and I thought ''NO WAY'',,,,,
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,looked at my watch which said ''WAY''...
...................................started to pick it up on an incline, and The Knee Said ''NO WAY''........sigh

,,,,,,,so I went with TallRunners ''Plan-C'',,,just worked on Form and Technique,,,,

......hit some slick spots on a downhill, and again when we went up on UT's sidewalk, kinda spooky but The Knee held up.......
.....coasted in with a 35 (??) but The Knee and Da Back intact.......
..............so I'm Gonna Keep The Shirt.......
----------------------
...........munch called as we were leaving for home and Said ''see you next year''.....
........................and I'm pretty sure she will........

...............ps...................( Pickles loved the whole thing and thought I looked Impressive at the Finish.......how can you beat that??)

...........makes me wish I had worn the SeeThru Shirt.........VA-VA-VOOM/////

Tom, it may have been raining and the knee could have been better, but it sounds like the great company made for a good experience. Now give the knee a break.

I've been waiting for decades for a tomwhite race report and this was worth the wait!

Sounds like a great Boomer reunion in Knoxville.

Glad your body parts held up for the race!

(Hi Pickles!)

(p.s. Sad about Vicky's Omaha reaction... I thought we had a nice dinner together! And it was great going to the Cathedral...)

Hiya TomWhite,
Other than the rain, it sounds like the perfect weekend. That's terrific your knee held up; how did your back feel? that's great you got to meet so many Boomer friends too. An AttaBoy to piejones for being the host with the most.

tomwhite.....did it rain in Knoxville today? I didn't notice. Greta job getting back in the racing groove. I'm glad the knee and back held up well. Now that you are back in the saddle again, you have no excuse for not getting up this way for some future races. We'll run one together sometime.

I have an idea for dealing with people that stop cold right in front of you, but I doubt they would let you run with a cattle prod.

p.s. your chip time was 35:01.....nice going.

A tomwhite RR is indeed a rare event -- an RRR if you will. But obviously worth waiting for and it sure sounds like everyone had a lot of fun. When's you next one, tom?

I don't think I have ever read a tomwhite rr, but now I have had my first, you need to race more. Ever the gentleman, and humorous and upbeat too, you make a great weekend seem greater, and I appreciated your compliments about your comrades. I too have met Munch and she is one adorable and upbeat lady. Piejones I know to be a fun person through CR but have not had the privilege of a personal meeting. I am so glad you and your wife had a good experience tw. Keep 'em coming and I hope the back and the knee improve. Spareribs

Yay TOM!!!
You done good--but we all knew you would. I'm really glad the back and the knee held up, I got worried for a moment. The whole thing sounds like it was a blast. And you're racing again!
I wish we could've made it, but we will be there for the next one if all goes well in the next week or so.
Take care my friend,
Heidi

A race report titled "A Dark and Stormy Night" is definitely a must-read. A race report with that title and tomwhite as the author is a "can't miss," and I'm glad I didn't miss it! Hope your knee feels better! Sounds like a fun time, no matter! Good job in the race and surviving the knee's "protests"!
