Yeah Tammy, I noticed the lack of lipstick report, but the no FUG part made up for it...

Congrats Ilene on your 1st in AG. The shoe gift certificate is sweet! It was very nice of you to give it to Mr. Forward. Btw, I'm looking forward to running with him at the Avenue of the Giants HM.

Bonus points for using 'detritus' in lieu of 'crud'. You are SO classy!

WTG, Ilene! You are amazing. And if you don't mind my using your RR thread to compliment someone(s) other than you, I also got a good chuckle from the congratulatory posts (as usual). Such an witty, original, and caring group, these Boomers.

I applied my perfect wear lipcolor by Avon; Rosy Resistance, but what with wiping the snot away that dripped down my face and coughing with my hand over my mouth, I doubt there was any left by the time the race started.

(how's that for classy?)

I never like the kid's races. They always trip me up and laugh at me.....darn kids........even if they ARE cute, they are sore losers.

Great race report. Congratulations on the placement and the shoes. THAT made it even more fun.

Thanks for sharing

Ilene,

It's always fun to read your race reports. Congratulations on another fine result, even if you were under the weather. I won't get into your FUG ... er ... maybe I should rephrase that....

Nice report Ilene and congrats on the AG win and prize as well, in spite of not feeling too good. No comment on FUGs (or lack thereof).

Nice going on the win. Although slower than your PR, the course sounded tough. Getting the free shoes is a great bonus too. Well done Ilene. Spareribs

Another race, another AG win. Wow! Do you have a streak going? And winning shoes, no less. How cool is that? You continue to run well beating up (figuratively, of course) on the competition.

Thanks too for another fun report which we all enjoyed. Hmm.. were you one of those students who got A's in composition?

Take care and hope you are able to get fully recovered very soon.

When I read that this was run on Fashion Island, I knew this was your race and it would be your day! Sorry about the detritus, but you are our one and only amazing Ilene.

Congratulations on the 1st award! Good going on the freebie shoes as well. I hope your stuffiness clears up soon. P.S. I can't decide whether or not to leave the FUG at home for my next race. Will I be faster without it?

Yet another enjoyable report, Ilene, for a well run race, despite being so recently sick. Excellent job on the AG win. You make it sound so smooth and easy (la la la in LA LA land . . .) except for the cigar hack, of course.

Get 100% well now. And none of this naked lip biz -- we want to hear more fashionable names of the tint you choose for your next race.

Congrat's on a great race Ileneforward! I noticed you, Cashmason and SloJim were originally signed up for the race. I've been working miserable hours lately and had to work Sunday morning at 8:00 am! Those darn slave drivers! I was going to come in late and try and sneak out to Newport Beach since I like this course, but I knew I'd get slack for coming in a few hours late - otherwise, I was really going to try and do that race. I think we all did it last year, right? Then apparently SloJim and Cashmason weren't able to do it, so kukos to you for braving it alone. Did ya miss us???

I just started running again after the Pacific Shoreline incident and the horrific hour's I've been putting in at work the past few months... but each time I get a chance, I try and run my 5 mile loop course in anticipation of April's Jimmy Stewart Marathon relay. I don't want to disappont the team! So with that, I say looking forward to seeing you next month. Hope you feel better by then! I'm sure you will.

Sherie

I loved your description of the children's race! But, sadly, am missing lipstick report...

GREAT race...I can't believe you are recovering from such illness and STILL managed to capture an AG award. You rock!

Not firing on all cylinders and still pulling the age group award, that's a great result. Well done Ilene and make sure you recover well before going all out for it!

Thanks, you guys. I love you all so much!

Sherie, I did miss not having you or SLOJim or Cashmason around, although I am glad I didn't spread any germs to my friends too.

The Jimmy Stewart Relay has been canceled this year due to construction in Griffith park.

Congratulations on another AG win!

It sounds like it was perfect racing conditions and weather and except for those folks under the weather. You're amazing ..... I can't believe you can go to a big race and win your AG coughing and hacking for 6.2 miles....... you must have overflowing boxes of medals just like Sun Raider

I'm sorry I bailed out so late but I had a meeting that I couldn't get out of..... I figured other Boomers would be joining you and I wouldn't be missed.

I'll make it up to you at the next race and bring my video camera so we document the whole race and awards and put it up on "You Tube" for everyone to enjoy

That's too bad they cancelled Jimmy Stewart Relay.... I was looking forward to that one.

Jim

Even with snot flying on a chilly run, no matter what the weather or even being sick that would DNS most of us, you make every run a spirit run we wish we could do too. However, if it’s just a little detritus, you’d be right at home in the PNW with us in our rainy day rocketing in all seven of my races since mid-October. Good job goddess ilenie!
