Well done Holly! You were so well prepared for this, and took the unexpected changes in stride. Hitting your goal pace and even splits without mile markers is quite a feat. Congratulations!

Congratulations, Holly! Super first marathon. I can't imagine running 26.2 miles with no mile markers. None at all? What's up with that?Love the photos. You looked terrific at the finish and your daughter is an absolute doll! Now, enjoy the rest and recovery. Treat yourself to another massage in the next week or so (from hubby or other). The best part of marathoning is the R&R, imo.

You did a GREAT job on your first marathon Holly. Heck, if this had been your 5th or your 10th marathon, that would have been great! I can only dream of having such a good marathon time if/when I do one! So, now that you've had an afternoon/evening to rest . . . . what do you have your sights set on for your next marathon????

Hey, I'm glad I could help! But really you did it yourself. And way to go with beating your DS after 26 miles. Wow!Bill ------------------ Bill's Profile

Holly, wow, what a great job you did and you looked awesome at the finish line. Great time for your 1st, 10th or even your 100th marathon, I too could only hope to come somewhere close to that if I ever get the nerve to run a full marathon. Now that it's official, you are a full fledged marathoner.. how does it feel? I'm sure it feels great. You deserve all the congrat's and pat's on the back you get, you did a great job and earned it. Now rest up. Sherie

Hi Holly,Especially given the course change, lack of mile markers, heat, and HRM issues, you did a remarkable job of staying on pace for your first marathon! Congratulations on a great race, and a well-done RR. I hope you frame your finish line photo: It's a great shot, and should serve as a wonderful reminder of how well you did in your first marathon. Congratulations, marathoner! You look beautiful the whole time too, great fashion outfit, young gorgeous face, perfect little figure, great legs, perky bosoms, you are the whole package and the best looking boomer ever. Great job on the marathon, you trained well and did a great job executing your plan. Good job!

Wow, they threw everything at you—flooded course, heat, no mile markers—and you still make it through with flying colors. That’s a terrific testament to your training, perseverance, and smart decision-making in how to run this race. Your finish time is wonderful for a first marathon under the best of circumstances; in that heat it’s especially impressive. A hearty congratulations! (And that’s the best finish photo I’ve seen in a long time.) You really do need to take it easy for awhile, though. (I saw that 6-miler the day after.) Give your body time to recover.

You did great! - especially considering the temps, and the snafu with the course and the mile markers. And I just love the big smile on your face as you came across the finish. That is a sure indication of a well-executed first marathon. Thanks for a great report, and for sharing your excitement with us. ------------------ Predawnrunner, aka mrs W.R.F. Beer

Yay Holly! This has to be the most eagerly anticipated race report on the Boomer forum yet. As everyone else has said, you did a fantastic job staying on pace despite the lack of mile markers and the heat. Having that HR monitor with you surely saved the day. Congratulations on an excellent first marathon!! Meg

How's the walking down stairs today? I'll add my 2 cents to the the poster who recommended the garmin 305. I use it and love mine. The price is dropping all the time and it would have been the perfect tool for your race Sunday. Again, great job and the pictures were priceless! Fran
