Great race chooooooves! What do you mean a big PR? Your's is a big PR and you smelt the roses, made calls, took photo's and had a great time. It's so refreshing to read these kind of reports. I've yet to get a PR and have that much fun in the same race. There'll be time for the serious stuff but in the meantime, revel in the enjoyment of this race.

What a terrific report and photos Cheryl, and you can't do better than running a fun race, hanging out with the Rose's and getting a big PR too. Sounds like you were in control the whole way. Nice going. Spareribs

The photos were a very nice touch. I agree with our friends here as far as the great race you ran! So the only constructive criticism I have is to not beat yourself up, and to realize that there is often a let-down the week after a race. Maybe that's what you're feeling. You were smart not to switch to Shot Bloks at the last minute. Try them in training and maybe you'll like them like me.------------------ My Profile

I echo what others have said about this being a happy report! The photos were a nice touch. Great race, Choover! Congratulations to both you and MrC. It must have been a great time with Rose and RS, too.

choover - so sorry I missed you. Haven't posted yet but I ran both the 8K and the 1/2 and my family ran the 8K. I'm sure we were running pretty close together too. Rose said you were coming, so glad you were able to hook up with her and the rocket scientist. Just for the record, they really are THAT nice and fun ALL the time. You and Mrchoover did a great job and I'm glad you enjoyed a bit of VA.

Great RR Choovie! And congrats to your hubby too, that's awesome that you were there for eachother. I love the photo of the 4 of you, what happy couples!Sounds like you ran a comfortable race and you let yourself hang back and "let the good times roll"...nothing wrong with that...there will be lots of races in your future to PR at. Thanks for posting the pic's....the sunrise is gorgeous! arf

There are palm trees in Virginia Beach?? Anyway, congratulations Choovie-Cheryl on another great HM. At the rates your times are dropping, you'll be looking forward to your next event already, maybe with your DH in tow again.Nice pictures, nice report. Is that really a palm tree? I need to hit my geography books again. ------------------ - Runnin' in Rochester Rochrunner

The Shamrock HM at VA Beach was fun -- PDR and I ran that last year.Choover, it sounds like you had a great time (at least up until mile 10 ), and learned a lot from this race. But I'm having a hard time with "I missed a golden opportunity to get a big PR", then "PR by 3:30 – whew!". 3:30 is a nice PR margin in my book -- but I do understand that you feel you could have done even better. Nice race, and great report (and pictures!). Lou

Yay! Choovie! It was SO fun meeting you and MrChoovie! You are right, it was like having dinner with old friends. Congratulations on a half marathon PB! And congrats to my buddy, MrChoovie, on an 8K personal best, too! Wish the weather would have been better earlier... oh well, just another reason to return to the Colonial Triangle! Your friend, ~ rose

It doesn't get much better -- a fun weekend with DH, dinner with Boomers and a terrific race as well. (We are alike in that anything close to 40 degrees and it's shorts for us. I agree, that 38 is a perfect temp.). Congrats on the PR -- taking off 3:30 is huge! It's tough to know whether you would have finished as strongly had you pushed a few miles earlier. Every race is an experiment of one (someone said once, I think . . . ). It's always a great feeling when you have a good kick at the end Next time, if you're feeling really good in those later miles, that probably means you can push harder. Love the pics!
