Sans Souci Cool Runner |

Wow. I'm gobsmacked I'll respond to many directly below, but I've read every response ... and, yes, more than once. Thank you, thank you! Mike, you can count on our paths crossing. (Econo, pssst, the Portland swirly/hallucinatory/must-attend-Portland Marathon-nothing-else-matters-on-this-earth thingy) Labduck, Flying Finn, thank you for the preemptive knee/heel wishes/fairy dust sprinklings. I'll keep up with the ice/massage/PT and trust the taper will erase these little things. Knee feels fine today; heel is woofing. millrunner, you will learn I have few secrets here. In fact, I'm sure many would wish I keep my fantastical thoughts to myself. My only tip is to work on the body's stabilizers and core, glues, hip flexors. wj, there may be some truth the your sandbagger insult -- although I'm deeply hurt -- as I think a few of the island's stars were absent. I do expect to see you polishing the champagne glasses by the time I (with luck) get to that park bench! caj, you got me. I'm a wordie, not a, er numberie. See, I can't even do simple math/s! And, no, I didn't use the same line ... though, of course, I am not disinclined to do such a thing when I haven't an original thought. DaveinAA, aaack, comparing me to Meg? Oh, my. I think Meg deserves an apology. AFA the SouciCam, you do realize if I have one of those things attached to my head that all you'll see are clouds that look like dogs, birds, dogs, happy volunteers that need thanking, and Boomer Gods' perky behinds. Is that what you want? mc "hammer"? You got it, exactly. I have never run with a "herd" before and the feeling was exhilarating. It may just be the first time I've ever really, truly raced, and I liked it! From their perspective, they were probably trying to rid themselves of this pesky "barnacle." millbot - "sanity wishes"? I'll look forward to your sanity checks. Remind me, please, when I' start twitching. ilene, jura - Mr. S. was right there at the finish, of course. Because of his fine cooking (homemade pasta), I was certainly well-fueled. vista, "soaring eagles and old buzzards?" Hardly old buzzards. The Men's 65-69 division is incredibly competitive here. There are some very fine runners on this island. The winning time was 1:04.55 by the great British runner Jon Brown. arfenarf, Econo - sillies, not wheatgrass ... Guinness. Had a pint on Saturday. We'll practice technique in June. Tet, I think you know me well. I love wildlife distractions. Will I flip out in the big Boston crowds? Karl, yes, I'd probably have tried to win, but I was trying to kick at the end no matter, so the result may not have been different. Spareribs, your input always means so much to me. AFA local, this is local; I just don't know the "players." The island has a population of about 700,000, most in the south. spankee, a pacer? Hmm. There were a couple of guys who stood me up in Ottawa earlier this year. Do I chance it again? Thunderbolter, I look forward to a Beantown meeting. How 'bout a game of backwards Scrabble, sans German? ladysmithrunner, didn't the bouncer check your ID at the door? Thanks for chiming in. Yes, we'll definitely chat over the coming days. Take care! Skip!!!! So good to see you here. I hope you're well. (see comment to mc, re "hammer" above). Please come back more often. You are missed! kameele, alstublieft! Soundrunner, you have many, many PRs in your (near) future. You are running very well and I know Boston will be fantastic for you! Tammy, Karl, I was wearing Mizuno Wave Rider 10s. How's that? Thanks for the extra pressure DaveinAA, mc, mrpat, Robin (Eastern sister, you are particularly bad but, no matter, we can drink Talisker and dance to U2 after the race!), Ray, Elaine, perchcreek (are you into taper madness already?), Skip, Meg, and Soundrunner, but I'll just do what I can on the day and be happy with that. It really did turn out to be a braw day.
