39.3 happy jikatabi miles including 2/11 Valentine Marathon with divechief and arf
YTD - 52.7 miles

[This message has been edited by Tetsujin30 (edited Mar-01-2007).]

ETA - sorry Tramps it was just a poor attempt at a joke about what seemed to be the previous-previous post indicating that 241.4 km is equivalent of 322.3 mi. Just getting to do occasional Intrepid service for a couple of minutes a day when the boss is unavailable makes me appreciate how many hours and days are necessary for your comprehensive, informative and much-appreciated monthly totals definitely not needing to get diverted by silly diversions I sincerely regret. Sorry. - jon

Our numbers are almost the same Tet. I have 25.9 for the month of Feb and only 68.65 YTD. And yes, those odd numbers bug me. During March I need to round out my totals to a whole number. Then I won't feel so discombobulated.

I've never won any of Tramps's awards, but with 124 miles this month, I'm thinking I may be a threat for Awesome Average or Magnificent Median Mid-Packer.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I have a good feeling about this.

Oops, I almost forgot about this...Thanks, Tramps again for doing it. This has not been a very good month for me, as you know, but hey, we can only go up from here .
February: 79 miles (actually, more like half of February, since I didn't run at all for 2 weeks in there)
YTD: 245 miles

On to a new beginning in the new month!

OK Tramps - you so very kindly left an invitation on the Newbies Thread, so here goes!

I've just been doing the C25K and did W5D2 today! I've been doing it on time, and (maths not being my strong point) my nearest guesstimate as to number of miles run during January is ...... **fanfare**

7 miles (and that's hopeful!)

This is a personal best since I was in my teens. (Used to run cross-country in my early teens until the hormones kicked in and **rolls eyes** and **shrugs** just didn't care!!)

Today's run on W5D2 was 8 mins run, 5 mins walk, 8 mins run. This is the most running I have done since I was 16. And it's half past nine in the UK, I've had two glasses of Chablis and I'm still awake enough to type! Must be good!!

Yaaaaaay!

Tramps, so nice of you to visit. such a genuinely nice invitation is hard to resist, in spite of myself.

February: 7.55 miles. not a pr.
ytd is 13.60 miles. not a pr.

I just read the intro... glad I posted in time for the award thing.
Sorry Kameele, don't think you have a chance at this one! unless he gets to use a truncated mean.

hey everybody... amazing numbers. woo hoo!

thanks Tramps

Tammy,

I thought of you all during my Feb. 28 treadmill run. Really.

I started with 113 miles, and I couldn't decide whether I should run 11 miles, and finish the month with 124; or run 12 miles, and finish with 125. I asked myself, "What would Tammy do?" I know how you are, and I didn't want to push you over the edge into a full-fledged OCD fit.

First I thought, "Well, 124 seems like a nice comfy number." And it is: observe the digits 1-2-4, and notice that 1 doubled is 2, and 2 doubled is 4.

But then I thought, "125 is a cube: 5 x 5 x 5. Whereas 124 is only 2 x 2 x 31. Not nearly as nice as 125."

I have a lot of time to think on the treadmill.

So for a few miles I was pretty happy with the idea of 125.

But I kept thinking, because I had plenty of time for it. And I thought, "February has 28 days. That's exactly four weeks. If I run 124 miles for the month, that is divisible by 4, and gives me exactly 31 miles for each week."

And that seemed nice.

But then I thought, "Doesn't a perfect cube beat four of a kind?" I don't play poker, so I wasn't sure. Anyway, I don't think they have cubes in poker. So I reasoned it out: in poker, they probably value a hand according to the rarity (unlikelihood) of the cards a person holds. That's why three of a kind beats two of a kind: because it's harder to get three of a kind.

I decided a cube was probably rarer than numbers divisible by 4. So I was back to 125 miles as my preference.

But then my right hip and right knee started hurting, and I decided to bag the run at 11 miles, giving me a total of 124 for the month.

We think our minds are in charge, until our bodies speak up.

160.3 miles for me in February, due to a combination of injury and taper for the marathon I turned out to be too injured to run. This is the lowest monthly mileage in several years.

21.4 miles (No PR)

I haven't read through this thread, but I'm pretty certain I will be last again but that's perfectly fine with me. I actually had a plan to get 8.6 gutsy and determined miles in over the last three days of February, but the weather hasn’t been too kind here in SW MN. Oh well, at least I went out and ran 6 times this February. Twice it was with wind chills way below zero. That's a good feeling.

Thanks Tramps.

Sorry StarrRuns......I am later than you......lol
I have been traveling the last week or so and not able to post much.

February was 46.8 miles (better than last year)

YTD is now 98.3 (better than last year)

So I am at 98.3 miles towards my year goal of 1000 miles

As well, I have run 30 days YTD towards my year goal of 250 days.

March is preparation for my first HM in April

DH, you are hilarious! I amused, and maybe somewhat bothered, that my OCD tendencies when it comes to numbers is rubbing off on you. I think I would have been fine with either 124 or 125 for the month. As you so clearly pointed out, they each have their significance. I would have even been okay with 124.5. It's the odd fractions that tend to make me feel dissatisfied.

but thank you for thinking of me and trying to figure out what Tammy would have done in a similar situation. Makes me feel loved.

---These numbers only include running and walking miles (and km’s) and therefore cannot do justice to those of you who run by time or who have a well-rounded approach to fitness that includes lots of cross-training.
---Summary miles for earlier months are revised numbers that include late posters. As a result, average and median numbers listed there may no longer coincide with award winners.
---Let me know if I’ve made any significant errors (e.g. leaving you off an honors list).
---If you forgot to post your miles for this month, go ahead and do so now. I’ll revise the final numbers (but not the awards) when I announce next month’s thread.
