Eli Snowball is a cream colored Standard Poodle born on November 27. I got him in the beginning of January. He came at a great time in my life because I was sort of down in the dumps and he helped a lot with that. He is the devil dog from H E double hockey sticks but I love him. His name is Eli Snowball because every kid wants to name their dog Snowball so this is my concession. We just call him Eli.

this was the first day we got him:

and a couple of weeks later:

and one more recent one:

These are Hamish (L) and Storm, the Flat-Coated Retrievers. Storm is my running and hunting companion. Hamish is a teenage idiot, but he has a lot of potential. I train them both for hunt tests - we have lots of fun working together in the swamps of Vancouver Island.

Wow - lots of great doggie and kitty posts today! JellyBelly - do you think Eli has enough toys?

Arfenarf - what kind of testing do you do? We test our dogs with NAVHDA. It's a fun thing to do and the dogs love it.

Enough toys? He doesn't play with ANY of them -- He's cut off I tell ya!

Great post and awesome dogs and pu$$y cats! Love 'em.

((((PerfesserR)))) Cute little daughter, QuantumLobster. Of course Charlie and AJ are cute as well. What a difference haircuts make, Charlie and Eli Snowball! I started a human haircut thread a few days ago and it sank to zero depths so I pulled it....perhaps should have been about doggie haircuts!

We run UKC and CKC hunt tests - I haven't had a chance to get down to the States to run any AKC tests in he last little while. Storm's official name is:

HR Affinity Easy Sailing SH WCX CGN,

a bit of alphabet soup that represents a few years of hard work. I'm really proud of that dawg. I'll be running her in UKC Finished this spring and maybe CKC Master in the fall.

Hamish will debut in Started and Junior this spring. If he lives up to his promise, he may well be running Senior this fall, and perhaps even Derby in the field trials.

My brother's chocolate lab was also named Hershey, and he just joined your Hershey last week at age 16. He was such a great dog. I only wish my 4 yo yellow lab was half the dog Hershey was. (I still love him despite his shortcomings!)

(((((twoleftfeet's brother and twoleftfeet))))) Our Hershey made it to 13. She had congestive heart failure and maxed out on her Lasix. At the end she couldn't even walk a few steps without laying down and struggling to breathe due to fluid build-up. She and your brother's Hershey are better off now. Wow, 16 is old. Big dogs supposedly have shorter life expectancies than small ones.

Here's our new recruit, Daisy. She's a beautiful, energetic 4-year-old from Doberman Rescue. Still needs a lot of training, and can't be trusted off-leash yet, but she loves to run!

Perfessor, Daisy is beautiful! I used to run with a doberman...named Daisy...with floppy ears. She was my mom's doggie and was very sweet. Not to mention good protection!

Thanks folks. I've discovered that she is pretty well leash trained, which will help a lot. But if she sees a deer, cat, squirrel, or whatever, she'll go after it if not on leash.
My other partner is an (estimated) 8-yr old 100 lb male Dobie who's a lot better disciplined but poops out when it starts getting warm.

Yes, she has a beautiful coat, partly because she was kept outdoors at her former home.
We took her running today, and she has a lot to learn. Having a 65-pound dog suddenly cut in front of you while running is not a good thing, and she needs to learn that I don't need to be pulled downhill! She'll learn.

Awwe - you guys are too sweet!! I think having other dogs at home helps to ease the pain. I was thinking Saturday how hard it would be to go home to an empty (no pet) house.

Thanks everyone for the special hugs.

Edited to add his last photo - protecting the trees that still need to be planted!
