This is Howie, "The Helper Cat". The cat that likes to help - but not very well! Howie would like to go on runs with me, except he has an attention problem. He would rather chase birds and insects, and he kind of gets off track. He does, however, help me with my pre- and post-run stretching. Howie is over two years old, and he has already used up more than his 9 lives. [This message has been edited by Labduck (edited Jul-15-2005).]

Pugs seem to tolerate being "costumed" better than any breed I've ever known. They seem to understand that making people laugh is a good thing, and they become these ridiculous little clowns sometimes. When I was laid up with a stress fracture (at the beginning of the ordeal) last year, I spent a lot of time on the couch feeling sorry for myself for the first couple of days. Ike went into hyper-clown mode, bringing me a pile of different stuffed animals, spinning in circles, playing hide-and-seek under the couch. Funny little martian dogs. The Eddie-man is a little more dignified...

jdmom3,Quote: "Here's a picture of my 19 year old Siamese Koko. He's doing pretty well for an old guy, though has lost a lot of weight recently." My cat is 17 and she was losing weight as well. I took her in a she had hyperthyroidism. We just give her pills daily now and also put her on the science diet for senior cats. She gained 1.5 lbs. (a lot for her) and is doing much much better. She's a little thing and never weighed over 6.5 lbs in her life. So, were happy with her weight gain. We were extremely worried with her weight loss and thought she was "checking out." Turned out there was an easy solution to her medical problem. She's even a cancer survivor from 4 years ago as well.

Here's my kitty Mergatroid. We're into elder care now. I remember the first time she experienced me going off on a run and she ran after me down the street meowing in a panic thinking I was leaving for good. I had to take her back to the house. She is such a sweet little thing.

Mergatroid is beautiful! We used to have a siamese/himilayan cat named Holly with long hair like that. I love the Pug picture too! What a little clown indeed!

great thread! it's nice to see other boomer family members! love the pug picture...i could never get my pugs to do agility....kudos to you!i'm going to attempt to attach a link to view a picture of my sydney dog. i rescued her about 3.5 months ago. she is an australian shepherd/border collie mix (we believe) and the vet thinks she's about 1.5 years old. she's such a great running buddy! she loves to herd other dogs and animals...that's how she plays. [img]http://photos.yahoo.com/hydrationprincess[img] we also have a kitty named daphne who we rescued about 1.5 years ago. she cannot stand dogs. poor sydney just wants to play and daphne will have nothing to do with her.

Hydrationprincess,You did the code to post the picture correctly except for the slash on the second img. In the last bracket it's /img. THE PUG PICTURE IS PRICELESS! HOW ABSOLUTELY CUTE! Thanks for the compliments of Mergatroid. We call her Troidie. She has trained us well and has a full-time staff to wait on her. She's just too sweet to resist.

puglogic,Is your dog in a dog show? Or is he just jumping over something from a horse show? In either case, cute as cute can be.

That's Ike being a speed demon in an AKC agility trial (hey, there's a competitive sport for everything now... Lots of fun to do and it keeps him from turning into El Porko.

I took a course in art last winter. I learnt the difference between a fine oil painting, and a mechanical thing, like a photograph. The photograph shows only the reality. The painting shows not only the reality, but the dream behind it. It's our dreams, doctor, that carry us on. They separate us from the beasts. I wouldn't want to go on living if I thought it was all just eating, and sleeping, and taking my clothes off, I mean putting them on... Irun, Veta looks as sensitive as her namesake.

**News Flash!!** I'm a grandma . . . . to puppies that is! Looks like we have 6 male and 4 female puppies - momma is doing fine and delivered them all on her own. I'm so excited - told them that I want to come see them as soon as they are walking and playing. Last time we went right up (45 min. drive) while they were still so new - oh I love puppies so! Can't wait to go home and tell Huntley what a stud he is.Pictures will be posted once I get to see the little devils.

Oh ribs, be quiet, shhhh....Tramps, your animals are beautiful. My DH and his mom were the gatherer of strays when he was little. Family of eight total, and it was just him and his mom.

You mean some of you can actually run without a dog? You're kidding, right? I'd include a picture of my partner, but alas I'm not literate enough to include a photo. Sigh. ------------------ "I think I can, I think I can"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is Gamera. He is a sulcata, sort of a hard shell dog. He runs quite fast, though he doesn't look as though he would. A major drawback to going running with him is he tends to like to go north only. He can be very stubborn, so you have to carry him back south. He currently weighs almost 40 lbs. [This message has been edited by Ileneforward (edited Nov-29-2005).]

Would someone please explain how I would post a picture instead of just a link line? Thanks!(oh, and in language that a non-techie would understand, sorry, and a million thanks again) [This message has been edited by Ileneforward (edited Jan-02-2006).]
