Simple. I'm an anesthesiologist and, as a mother of three under ten, always sleep deprived.

That explains it! At least now I can start calling you by the right name! Heck of a handle and one you should be proud of. Spareribs

My name is Kent Zabriskie. 20 yrs. ago I started work with a computer company. As was company policy, they assigned a computer user name based on the persons name....first letter of first name, then up to the first 7 letters of last name. Seems like every company I've worked for since then has done the same thing. I hate trying to remember a whole bunch of user names/handles, so I have just used the same one for years regardless of the website. However, I usually sign my posts 'Z-man', since that's what a lot of my friends call me - except for my brother, who - for some reason, calls me Horhay (spanish for George). I have no idea why. One other little factoid. After looking at some of the other interesting handles on this site, I decided to create a more colorful one - slowmojo - which I thought was cool. I run fairly slow, but I think I look good doing it so - not to mention all the weight I've lost since taking up running about 9 months ago (40 lbs.) I look much better now Problem is, my running log is under my original handle so I just keep using kzabrisk. Z-man ------------------ Z-man Me

Mine is quite simple as well. My name is Christopher Harley Gross. My beloved Dad went by S. Harley Gross. His first name was Sheldon which he found embarrassing. His father, a general in the Army, was Charles Philip Gross. Everyone thinks I'm Charley Gross but I'm not, but my grandad was, I guess.

After enjoying a wonderful marathon in Omaha with several of the Boomers, I told my wife that I no longer wanted to be known as just Mr. Rose. As we tossed around ideas she quickly pounced on the 'snot rocket' theme. .... I am sure that you all have enjoyed Rose's wit in her many posts.... Although I do not claim to be a rocket scientist, I am an aerospace engineer so the name stuck.

Hugh soccer fan here. Very big fan of US Soccer (suppose it wasn't too tough to figger out).I support both the US Men's and Women's National Soccer Teams by travelling to as many of their matches as possible. This year I've been to all US Men's home World Cup Qualifiers as my mighty red, white, and blue ran through qualification tournament for World Cup 2006 in Germany. The good thing is that for weekend matches when I travel I try to run road races. This year has seen me: o March: Run with a group of native 'Bama runner folk in the driving rain in Birmingham, AL before the US faced Guatemala (we won!). o June: Run the Salt Lake City Classic 10K at altitude (ugh!) in, where else, Salt Lake City, UT before the Costa Rica match (we won!). o August: Run abysmally hungover in the middle of Hartford, CT the day after US faced Costa Rica (we won!). o September: Run a PR half marathon in tiny corn-field infested Smithville, OH the day of the great match of the year when the US BEAT ARCH-RIVAL MEXICO 2-0 to officially QUALIFY FOR WC'06. Yeah, I'm a big fan! The other good thing is that next year in Germany, where I'll be to support the US in World Cup 2006, I will have a full month to not only log miles in the Fatherland, but also run a lot of road races and drink a lot of Bavarian beers

I think we probably need to do some private consulting with Ralph while the busy Rose is out of the picture. Somehow I don't see myself referring to this great guy with any name that includes the word "snot" in it. Let's put the team to work on it. Give Ralph a cool name! Also, all boring named people, as in "hi, my name is John Smith, so I log on at work as jsmith, hence my handle here..." Rethink that. Read a great book. Have a big goal and vision of who you are as a runner and grab a name for it. You are a closet Prefontaine, waiting for a new persona to emerge! And all people who start off believing they are losers, as in, "well, I haven't been running long and really stink at running, so I decided to call myself 'Stinkrunner'", or other similar names, such as "Slowfoot" etc., be advised you have work to do. You are all runners. You are working hard at this. You are doing better than all the lazy-assed people who do nothing. Get a handle that reflects your optimism and athletic desire. Want ideas? We'll help! But why log on every day using a handle that reminds you that you aren't any good at something. Follow Rose's leadership on that point. I would love it if over the next few months, people who created handles because they were expedient, rethought the idea and came up with something upbeat and inspirational. Come on Boomers! GrayRoadRunner was taken, thus GrayRoadRunner62.For someone 43, I'm sure the handle doesn't fit too well, but the gray hair started coming in at 18 years of age. With hair that seems to be 2/3's gray, It's the first thing that came to mind when signing up. The 62? I picked my birth year. With some thought, I'm sure a better one could be found. Eric or "E" as I was called back in college.

Haven't been on much, but....(in chronological order)...1) ussoccer - I'm with you! I try to expose this oldtimers with visions of x-training. Biking, swimming, ....futball! You bet! We really only get to get rabid every four years. The US is in for sure and we need to encourage them. (and oh yeah, the Revs are still moving on too.) 2) Ribs - I'm with you on this one. I may get to meet Ralph and I've been agonizing over how to great him w/o using the term sno...(oh nevermind), you get the idea. Something needs to be done quickly or who knows what will develop from the ensuing reports (install frightening smiley here). -Craig

The match in Cowlumbus had to be the best soccer match I've been to. Ever. It comes close to when we faced and beat Mexico 2-0 in that fridged February back in '01 in Columbus. Where were you sitting? I was in the endzone with the Sammer's (Sam's Army).By the way, I went out to Carson, CA last year to see your boys (DC United) come from behind to win the MLS Cup. Good stuff. You have a fun crowd to party with -- perhaps the best supporters anywhere (for MLS teams). TheProFromDover... yeah, my mighty Rev's are moving, and hopefully we'll plow through the MetroStars and then blow away Freddy Adu and Moreno, too, and their DC United team. Who's your team?

HiVery interesting reading and topic. Here goes: Since a young kid I always admired "canis lupus", the wolf for all their traits...............devotion to family, mate for life, strong, wild and free. I live in Vermont and so combining seemed natural. Sometimes when I'm running I imagine I am a wolf running on the tundra, and the miles seem somehow easier, other days when it is very hard going, I imagine that I am what is in front of the wolf.............running......trying to stay ahead......somedays it works, somedays the wolf "catches me". us, Also the Revs! I am in Westborough (not Dover). I got down to a game a few weeks back (vs Columbus). When you're there you can really see what a creative player Twellman is. It just doesn't come through on TV. Also coach kids and ref a bunch of levels. No playing much though. And I see you also list cycling and tris! Maybe I'll run into on the tri circuit. You're not my age, are you??!! And how about this question? Ever run into Patti Noe at PictureTel? Another soccer player. -Craig

Name sounds familiar. I'll ask a few other ex-PictureTel 'ers... (where's LeftRightRepeat when I need him). I used to play pickup with a bunch of people from PicTel. There were a few women. Perhaps she was one. How do you know her?Played indoor for several years at the indoor soccer center in Westborough.. InSports, I think. Great facility. And yes, TnT (Twellman) is a fantastic goal scorer. He took the goal scoring crown this year. He's offsides way too much, but at least he put the ball in the back of the net
