When I was a kid, my favorite poem with "The Hunting of the Snark" by Lewis Carrol. Surprisingly, the regular spelling of Snark was already taken.

Mine describes what I am usually doing in a group run... sweeping up because I'm almost always the slowest and last runner in. Taking the name was empowering - accepting exactly where my position is but being proud of the fact that I RUN!!!! (and most others don't!).

Sweeper...I love your attitude. You are sooo right...just being out there and RUNNING puts you in the minority and you should be darn proud of it! RUN ON!

First initial, Maiden name initial, and part of my last name.
Karen S. Abbamonte
I have had many people comment that ksabbo sounds like an Asian fighter. I kinda like the strong fighter image. I do have a pretty strong will and have managed to persevere (spelling?) through many injuries lately. Though I am as fair and blonde as they come, I'm pretty far from asian.

As I was pysching myself along during a sunny run (sunny = running shorts) a few weeks ago, I noticed an uncomfortable, shall we say, chafing? I recalled using a wonderful product called BodyGlide in a race a couple of years ago and thought to myself "here we go again, need some BodyGlide".

It is also how I love to feel on those days when a run is so true and easy and you just glide along: a perscription and mantra all in one!

Skip is my childhood nickname (still used by family) and I grew up in Arizona. Although I have lived in Central NY longer than I lived in AZ, AZ has always been home in my heart. And someday I'll get back home to stay. (And I'll run every day in shorts!)

Skip in NY but wishes he was in AZ

Erin,

I believe you just have to start over and create a new screen name, I don't think you can transfer running logs or any other information.

Mine is pretty simple too. That is how many ultras I have done. That is unless you count the 24 hour stationary bike ride I did as a fund raiser in the front of a food co-op, years before I ever thought of running an ultra.

(BTW, I am thinking or reenacting that 24 hour stationary bike ride, as they will be opening a new store soon.)

I live on in a farmhouse in one of the last rufal areas of chester county PA - There is a huge greatroom with a massive fireplace with a very large moose head above (shot by previous owner - I'm not a hunter).

When my wife first saw the place (and before she fell in love with it) she said - oh, great we'll be living at the moose lodge.

The name stuck... The moose is still there. It's a great area to run.

My handle is pretty simple if you watch football and are a Greenbay Packers fan. This was the famous game in 1967 where they beat the Cowboys with a quarterback sneak by Bart Starr. Anyway thats what the game was called because of the sub zero temps.

Sayhey Cheesehead!--do you remember the T'sgiving Game w/ the photo of Bart about to be sacked by the Fearsome Foursome of the Detroit Lions?

Now that was a famous game......Karras, et al. O yes.

Well, when I thought up the name, my first feeling was kind of that I feel like I'm in a free fall, and I want to put a stop to it, get the fat off, get in great shape! But also, I like the thought of falling effortlessly and without obstacles toward my goals, being able to run effortlessly again too, like in a dream where your feet barely or don't even touch the ground! 1959 is the year I was born. And, I like the alliteration, f, f, f!

Inignot is a character in the cartoon Aqua Teen Hunger Force. How many of you Boomers are familiar with it? My gen-x bro-in-law introduced me to it. I think it's hilarious but I won't try to describe it -- it loses something in translation!

perchcreek: used to live on a pretty little creek in Canada that emptied into Lake Huron. Great memories. Since then it was renamed Cow Creek (not quite the same image!)

Ok, now that I've dumped my old (I can hide behind this) handle (ced53), I've adopted a new (I can hide behind this one too) handle. But at least it has a story behind it.

Several times while working for various disk drive companies I was yanked from my design role onto a task force to travel to Indonesia or Japan to work on some pesky production problem.
Being a boomer of the correct vintage, I was pretty entertained by Hawkeye and Trapper John, of MASH. I especially liked the scene where they were yanked from their unit to go to a large hospital where, because of their talant, they were to operate on a 5 start general (or something). They burst through doors, against the wishes of some, wearing golf gear, carrying golf bags, and declaring "We're the pro's from Dover!!".
So I left on these trips with a serious attitude (problem ) and signed all my emails The Pro From Dover.
Monday I start back at Maxtor (but that topic is beyond the scope of this thread).

-Craig
