OK, I'll play.I'm an avid recreational SCUBA diver. (PADI dive master since 1990, and TDI Trimix since 1998 if that means anything to anyone). I also carry a US Merchant Marine unlimited chief engineer's license. I sailed on various ocean going merchant ships for many years. For the last 15 years I have been employed by Washington State Ferries as (what else) a Chief Engineer.

I'm mom to three girls, run at 0430 before work, and am always tired. I'm also an anesthesiologist, so "SleeperGal" seemed to fit my work and home lives.

I've always wanted to take one of those Washington ferries. I imagine if I do I would go around yelling, "hey, is anybody here named DiveChief?"No PeteHome, Dallas has no hills; what you saw flying over is pretty much what it is. People ask me what Dallas is like and I tell them, "brown, flat and hot." The explanations of the names are pleasant surprises. Some are so much fun and interesting: Figbash, Kudzu, Coastwalker and many others. Some I didn't know would be so obvious. We had Sheak in our minds as some mysterious eastern oil sheik and it turns out Kevin Shea has kissed the blarney stone. I want to know how a precise accountant misspells his handle while he is explaining it. It's CPA! I bet he doesn't do that with numbers. The best were the ones where the name was a no-brainer and posters would sheepishly say, "duh, it's my name. Or, I'm Henry and I run." I think it will be fair if we vote on a winner, best handle and explanation. Maybe over the weekend when the posts stop. It will be tough, people whose ancestors got beheaded, anesthesiologists who sleep on the job. I don't know. The whole thread is quite enjoyable and I feel I know you all so much better. And as Samuel Pepys used to say, "and so to bed." Spareribs

OK, I will join in. I was coming home from a run one day when I saw my husband working in the yard. I ran up behind him and scared the ---- out of him. He asked me if I was running in stealth mode. Hence the name.-Cathy

Winthrop is the name of the lake across from my house; being also a fine old yankee name it was also adopted as the name of my erstwhile consulting company. 98 was the year I started using it.Cheers, Peter

I used to have FE2MAN ( FE2 is the chemical symbol for iron) for my handle; but, but I switched over to earthrunner ( because I don't run paved roads any more - EVER ! ) . I feel like 'Captain America' in the movie 'EasyRider' - when he took off his watch near the beginning of the movie and THREW IT AWAY ! - only I DISCONTINUED my PAVED ROAD running experience ( after 20 years & multiple injuries - I LEARNED MY LESSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!). And now, with two feet of snow on the ground, I use my Precor StairMachine, my Tubbs aluminum snowshoes and my X-Country skis to help me work out while I wait for the snow to melt a little bit !!!!!!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Courage, Speed, Strength & Stamina <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Kevin, It's not a bad movie for 10 year olds so if you have no pre-teen boys around I'm not surprised that you've missed it. The lead actors are Rick Moranis (Ghost Busters, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, etc.) and Ed O'Neill (Married with Children). Ed plays the part of Kevin O'Shea. Not actually your last name but close. chipster

Runnin Rob brings out the smiles. For the rest of you, even if your name is "George the guy who runs" you should post on this thread just to say hello. Every one of the posts has been enjoyable. Remember, there is a contest for funniest/most interesting name and post, so let's hear from you. Next week I will ask for the votes! Spareribs

Let's see...for me...Possumtrotter (I live in an area called Possum Trot),...or... Dog_Victim, in memory of my little theif this morning... maybe...Luigi, in reference to Luigi on the Mario 2 Nintendo game (he runs even in the air but is still slow)...think, think think....

Sorry Caroline but you already jumped into the duh group with Caroline from Kentucky, remember? No going back and getting fancy. By the way, you were the one who asked Lioness to post. What happened to her, and Bob Catt? Seems the feline crowd has gotten shy. Spareribs

My last name is Snyder-Grant, which is a bit too long to say or spell, so it gets shortened to S-G. Jim S-G became jimsg when I needed a handle for various places that didn't accept punctuation or capitalization or spaces. Interesting Trivia: It is possible that my wife and I are the only Snyder-Grants. By being able to outrun my wife, I am now the fastest Snyder-Grant in the world. -Jim

What's a person to do?! I can't trust PBJ to run when he says he will. Lioness ate all the fudge that was supposed to come to me. Spareribs won't let me change my handle. And now this!!
