Ilene - that's a riot - Jojemama will have to be DW's name if she ever joins our forum. She used to "clown" and her clown name was "Joje", so since she's the mama of four, Jojemama would be perfect.

Ever'body just called me Junior 'til I was in high school. Then there was a neighbor whose initials were TC I started calling Top Cat. He retaliated with JJ. Later, my family opened a tropical fish store that was popular in town. We called it JJ's Tropical Fish. The name just stuck. Jessee's my last name. I think that it's English, but we're hillbillies now.

OK, I need to add my explanation for two reasons. First, to get closer to 'cool runner' status. Second, I fear that on a running forum my ID may seem a little arrogant as if I think I can surge past other runners. (doesn't happen, believe me): )
The ID comes from an old church song that has the phrase 'this world is not my home, I'm just passing thru'.

OK, since this is the boomer forum, you all should remember...
The actor who played "The Perfesser" on Gilligan's Island, has the same name as me (Russell Johnson). So that was my nickname growing up. Then when I started using it online, "Perfesser" was already taken, so I used "PerfesserR".
I know it's misspelled, but that's the way the Skipper pronounced it...

I know I just became a boomer but I figured I better expalin my handle. It's a name given to a bunch of us who frequented the Briarcliff Manor in Briarcliff N.Y. just North of the Bronx. The saloon was owned by an ex NY cop and everytime we would enter his saloon he would yell out look out here are those blankity blank Bandits from the Bronx. So the name stuck with us and I used it as my handle when CB radios were in vogue. The handle my dad gave me is Joe Luccioni. Exciting No!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty self explanatory - two kids, husband and working full time selling real estate....Mom is always on the go! See mom go!

Boring, but accurate.

Hi,
Mine is no big deal. Did some travelling in Japan for the company I work for. One of my Japanese friends told me I was always out running and in Japanese "always running" translates to Hashiru koto.

My handle, so to speak, comes from my work ID which is lx33 then, of course, lx33 is me so lx33me is the short way to say it. Not very creative but it is easy to remember and I don't have to type very many letters or use abbreviations. There you have it. :-)

Well its a tribute to my late Dad. Whenever he wrote me, his return address would have a drawing of a pine tree (rom the mountains we love) and a little star, reminding us of how he would force us out the door after dinner at the cabin, to walk UP the road a quarter mi or so and lay down in the middle of the road and watch the stars for a few quiet minutes. ( This is way up in the mountains, no cars around)
13 is my lucky number. So, since he very recently passed away, I thought I'd take on that image, and add the 13.

I think I lost a couple of weeks somewhere, and missed this thread. Pretty cool.

Mine is also pretty self explanatory, among all the things I am, I love being a mom and I love to run, so mamaruns. I've been told I am very maternal and nurturing. So I guess it fits.

As a semi-noob I'd missed this thread. What fun!

I've always been on the big side for a marathon-obsessed person, not exactly obese, but big upper-body muscles are basically useless at mile 23.

I showed up at Boston this year after a 4-month layoff. 195 lbs had turned into 210, it wasn't pretty, and the other maniacs there noticed. I said "I guess you'll have to call me "Hippo" from now on. It seems to have stuck, though admittedly with a little help from me.

I now enter marathons as "Hippo" despite the fact that I'm back to a "svelte" 195 lbs.

The funny thing is, the whole thing has spread to my workplace. I get called Hippo despite being the skinniest person in the room. Hee!

MM Hippo refers to my being one of the Marathon Maniacs: an incredible honor I barely deserve. I also sometimes go by "Maniac Hippo"
