We were also in Sam's Army in Columbus. One section over from where the main action was. Beasley was pretty much directly in front of us when he scored the second goal. That was great fun. best game I have ever been to was losing to Honduras 3-2 in RFK in September 2001. 10AM start to taht game but what an atmosphere and action.Obviously I hate your boy Twellman but he is way down my list of hated Rev players. Heaps, Reis, and Dempsey are surely before him. I think both series here will be tough. You guys struggle with Metro and we tend to just have goal fests against the Fire so you never know what will happen. Given our record I would much rather face Metro thatn you guys in the conference final but we'll take care of either one.

DC always scares me. Always. Even this year. Probably because of your track record (think Bruce Arena days).One thing to keep in mind: Only one team from our Conference will earn a trip to Frisco, TX. Will it be DCU? Will it be my mighty Revs? Or will it be neither? May the best team win.

Peter thanks for bumping this thread I had a blast reading the origins of folks nicks. I think my favorite was ProfromDover. I loved the original MASH and that was a great scene!My nick comes from one of my other passions in life, flyfishing. I didn't marry until I was 36 and worked as a high school school science teacher and spent every summer working out west and in AK as a climbing guide. All of my downtime was spent flyfishing and it has become my quiet refuge. A caddis fly is a type of aquatic insect that a flyfisherman imitates to catch trout. The misspelling is to make it less common on the other boards I haunt (a telemark skiing board and a bamboo fly rod builders board) where I have the same nick. Not as funny or creative but a peak into my closet none the less. cheers, Cfli ------------------ "Its not the fall that hurts its the landing" Wile E. Coyote MyProfile

Ileneforward - Three part answer:1) Yes, I did used to be Better than yesterday, but of late I felt that the name didn't fit anymore. "Almost, but not quite as good as yesterday" would have been too long, I think. Instead of BTY I would have been ABNQAGAY. Nah. "Biscuit Ballista" 2) Biscuit: My two youngest children went to a track meet with me two years ago when they were 6 and 8. I told them I'd be "tossing the discus" for the first time in a long time. They watched, seemed a little bit interested, and started asking me questions the next day about biscuits. It took me a couple of days to figure out what they were talking about, but it turns out they thought the discus was a big biscuit of some sort. I must not have enunciated well. 3) Ballista (From Dictionary.com): "bal·lis·ta def: An ancient and medieval engine of warfare used to hurl heavy projectiles at a target. [Latin, from Greek ballists, from ballein, to throw. See gwel- in Indo-European Roots.]" In my world, a biscuit ballista is a discus thrower.

I'm 6' 6" tall and my last name is Edwards. I've been Big Ed my whole life. That is what I use as my handle if it isn't already taken which it too often is.The Bad part came when I started playing computer games. Big Ed the Bad just had a certain ring to it, cheesy but cool at the same time. ------------------ Big Ed

This was a great thread! And I realized I hadn't posted in it, though mine is in the category of obvious not very original names. I'm a lawyer, hence the jd (juris doctor) and a mom of 3. All of which equals jdmom3. I suppose I ought to pick a new handle that has something to do with running. Meg

I'm of Finnish descent. The Olympics in Paris in 1924 were the finest hour of Finnish athletics and Paavo Nurmi (The Flying Finn) in particular. In six days Nurmi won five gold medals: three individual ones and two in team events. His most legendary feat was to win the 1500 and the 5000 meters with less than two hours between the two races.

not because i am a star. or a pine. or 13. Because of the view, at night, out the window at my folks' cabin when I was growing up. And my grandpa's and my 'lucky' number.And because, for me, running in the mountains is like heaven on earth.

I'm half Finn. My mom was born and raised there. Lasse Viren also did pretty well at the Olympics!

I rarely post, but do get a lot of info from all of you, so here's mine:For about the past 13 years, we have had a sanctuary for chickens at our home. When people find chickens abandoned or fallen from trucks, they call me or bring them to me. Or they call someone else who gets in touch with me. A lot of people don't remember my name, so I'm often referred to (and introduced as) The Chicken Lady. Even at a funeral, someone went to introduce me and said to his wife, "This is, um, this is the chicken lady I told you about."

FINALLY posting -- this last day of 2005 -- after lurking here since July. 1. Why Here? This is the best forum, greatest topic! I've been following since its rejuvenation in October; never had enough courage to post 'til today. 2. Why Now? "It's not about the destination. It's all about the path." (See answer 4 for further). Started C25K on 7/27/05; finally reached W6D3 tonight (5 months later; Hurricane interference, among other things.) Ran 2.25 miles (12:00 pace), no walks/stops! What the heck? I repeated a lot of days, a lot of weeks. As an "aging" and injured (knee, pereformis muscle) boomer, I was being overly cautious and enjoying the process, not the goal. Today's run inspires me to "goal" for 2006 -- finish C25K in the next 3 months, run Corporate 5K race in Miami in the Spring. Think about a 1/2 Marathon in the Fall. 3. Who am I? 52-year young boomer; retired federal civil servant; rejuvenated, one-time Marathon runner (1990 Marine Corps; 3:32:52). Started running again in the middle of a Florida humid summer because someone said it would help alleviate my "hot flashes". Yeah, right. What was I thinking? 95 degree, 90% humidity, and I am *not* an early-morning runner. Guess that's another reason why it's taken me so long to reach Week 6. 4. Why the handle? Seriously practicing yoga for 5 years; scuba diving for 18 years (405 dives). Didn't feel confident enough when I signed up to call myself a runner. Now I do. Thanks all for inspiring me by your endeavors. May we all meet along paths of some type somewhere during 2006.------------------ AngelFish}}}
