I cannot find a Search feature here either, but read a thread a while back that suggested using your favorite search engine (google, yahoo, etc) and include www.coolrunning.com with the topic you want to search for. For example, if I wanted to search for sports drinks I would enter "www.coolrunning.com sports drinks".

I'd like to hear from a moderator or a system admin person... did you guys remove the search feature / link / button that allowed searching against forums? I swear there was one but now it appears to be gone.

Agreed...c'mon guys, at least tell us what is going on with this, even if it isn't fixed. Your faq says there is a search feature, but it clearly does not exist now. Also, for anybody looking for a search workaround the following was posted by melaniec in the newbie forum: quote: originally posted by melaniec: no there is not a search but you can find what you are looking for by going to this link: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=site%3Awww.coolrunning.com%2Fforums%2F&btnG=Searchin the search bar leave a space after what's already typed in and then you add what you want to search for.

I bumped this up. I'm new here .. just started navigating around, etc.. I think I like this place . Being a member of non-running boards, I really like "Search" features. I'd like to know if one exists here too .. if it's been removed, or what? IMO "Search" features help considerably so topics aren't lost/repeated/re-started. Good/popular information can be retained/added to/debated/etc. under common searchable headings. Saying that, I learned something new here about Googling & searching. Thanks.

good luck fiocco. This question has been totally ignored by the mods/admins for months now. I also am a member of other boards...running and non-running. I've never encountered such indifference to the posting and reading membership. Not only with regards to this thread, but several others throughout the forums. It's too bad really.

No, it hasn't. The server that runs this thing is at or close to breaking point, and that's why the search feature has been turned off. You probably don't remember when it was on - it was clunky and slow, and you could only search one forum at a time. Using Google is a hack, but it's a hack that works far better than the old search feature ever did. If you want an explanation, you'll find it here. Maybe you'd like to do the same thing that I've done, and bookmark that page so you can post it to help others out. [This message has been edited by Iontach (edited Nov-21-2006).]

Thanks Iontach. The thread has a lot of very helpful information. It also gives some insight into CR's level of committment to the discussion forums. At the risk of beating a dead horse, I will say this...I can understand the mods getting tired of addressing the same questions repeatedly. However, the most recent post by a mod in the thread that you provided was Feburary of this year. We are now in November. Srlopez also offered a thread which included a post from kevinm dated August of this year. I found nothing more recent than that. I stand by my statement that the question has been ignored for months. I see no reason why the mod could not simply do what you have done, and refer people to the prior thread. I have no idea what the arrangement is for moderating these forums. I am sure the people are very busy with many things, so I hate to cast stones. However, to let a legitimate and earnest question sit unanswered for 2 months or more seems inexusable to me. Particularly when it was posted in a forum specifically designed for direct feedback. At the very least, the faq should be updated with a note saying that SEARCH is unavailable until further notice. Or as excellently suggested by someone in the earlier thread, leave the search link on the page, with a note explaining that it is currently unavailable. IMO, these are much better options than leaving people scratching their heads.
