Beautiful day yesterday saw DF as we were on our way to the McGill outdoor track. Ugh.. 400s. It was tough but definitely time well spent.

Just learned that McGill will be charging us $2 per visit or $45 for the season. As long as there are no events scheduled, people can train there in peace and safety. Of course, you'l have to watch out for an occassional soccer ball or two.
What a bargain!

I've begun a new core/stretch program and I am beginning enjoy the benefits of doing so. Day off for me today. Ah... now I can go and enjoy the sun.

Have a great day,

TB

Speaking of taper:

Just make sure you don't get a taperworm... it will eat everything you eat and you'll always be hungry and never gain weight... Hmmmmmm...

Hi HZ. Nice to meet you. Actually, it's not painful but there reaches a point where your feet just can't go any faster or your lungs just can't suck in the oxygen fast enough. I was not too far off. Gotta get used to it though, if you want to get faster, you have got to run faster so your body can adjust to the pace. Would like to end the season in the low 3:20's which would represent an improvement in the 10K, and by extension, the Marathon. Hope to see you soon.

Merc: Thanks for the invite, My only concern is that I normally run track on Tuesday so running two back to back sessions is not advisable. I'll have to make time to get there. How do I get there from downtown by public transit? Wow, fast times. Wish I could run that fast

Best of luck to those running Ste Therese this weekend.

But Merc was right, you woulda loved it!!! (oh yeah, I heard they ran too).

The Pittsfield Peak Ultra Challenge race will be including a "fun run" If anyone is interested, and when your finished you get to watch me and Gro finish. (June 9th)

"Hats, unique finishers awards, shirts for all entrants, a huge BBQ feast (shrimp and lobster). Lisa Batchen-Smith and Noel Hanna will both be speaking at race end to tell their tales of world class endurance.

Come on folks.. this even is going to be great. If anything you'll have a great time and get some great shwag.

Fun Run is 8 miles of hell....but you will definitely have fun....
There will be animals and rivers and mud and ponds and all kinds of fun
stuff.
Same price.. ($100 US) participants get the same Shwag."

http://www.peak.com/

Free camping at the start finish line.

Looking at the various running events, from the ultras to the track distances, I think there will be tears all around, whichever way you go.

DR: Aww... Now you tell me! You can Merc must be in cahoots torturing me after the fact. Grr... Regardless of whether or not I had track the night before, exceptions can always be made for yummy cake. Any pictures? phooey... I guess my only consolation prize is to drown my sorrows in slice of carrot at a resto not too far away from they gym...

Running to eat guilt free...

Hi Kingsley, Eventually you will have to decide (once you get a few races in you) if you want to destroy your body running road racing on pounding, unforgiving hot pavement in polluted cities then being rewarded with a trinket, half a banana, pieces of bagel and a bottle of water or enjoy a wonderful relaxing full day of running in the comfort of a cool forest, enviroment in fresh country air, over soft gentle rolling hills then being rewarded with shrimp and lobster BBQ, beer, unique finishing awards, hats, shirts and an evening of tales from two top endurance athletes.

Roly

Roly: You forgot to raise the possibility of being directed off course by a defrocked Irish priest and being defeated by a shrewd runner who opts to take public transit as a short cut to the finish.

Choices, choices...

Two top endurance athletes?

Okay, I haven't been here very long but are you refering to GROLY? You two seem inseperable...

I gotta admit, grass, mud and rocks sounds hella better than pavement.

Well I was trying to keep the pro and cons balanced in order to make a fair and informed decision.

No, no, no I was refereing to Lisa Batchen-Smith (Bad Water) and Noel Hanna who will be the Geuss speaker's at Pittsfield.

Now don't go spreading any rumors, Gro and I do run our long run's together now and then, and are running the Pittsfield ultra, and I will be his pacer at the VT100..O hell I ain't helping myself... nevermind.
