..... beautiful am! shame on you if you don't run today! avoid the mountain if you don't care for crowds.... although the trails are pedestrian-free... almost.

..... a wonderful run this morning for me.... very successful on all levels, notably:
(i) the couple of tender spots that have been bugging me were silent
(ii) I may have found the perfect picnic..... chocolate almond cliff bars [265 cals] vanilla PC meal replacement [extra cal type.... 300cals] 2 litres e-load & a couple of vanilla gus...... plus a refill of the 2litre camel back h2o.... still managed to weigh 5lbs less than when I left..... go figure.. not enuf bouffe me thinks
(iii) felt very fresh at the end..... part two tomorrow

go run!!

Merci Df, good luck today. I think I enjoyed yesterdays celebrations a little too much.

.......congrats Hcakes, checked your result! woohoo! congrats to KJ too.... a little race report gals?

as for gomez.... got his first hair cut on friday ..... a little too "caniche" for my taste but it'll grow back to his usual rasta stylie.... anyways we're off back to the mountain for an hour of walkies.....

Yay DF! You looked great out there, no matter how you felt... Even had energy for a high five with 5k to go! Great job, nice race!

Gag: Didn't know you were racing!! Getting ready for next month? Bonne chance!

No waffles... but a nice assortment of approx. 5 types of bagels...

Ran/jogged the 5 with Acidosis, thanks for setting up that trip-wire so I could beat J... hehe oops.

Caught a late lunch with TB back downtown hmmmmmm St-Hub....!

Who did the VT half yesterday? Merc?

Thanks everyone, great to have this kind of support. Big hug and thank you to TB who kept me and Dame S ( I’ll call her) company . She felt strong enough to pick it up at the 16th marker and I kept going the way I was…leg had started to give me grief so I was just hanging in.

The weather was good, though what didn’t help me was the wind along the basin coming back, tedious spot as TB pointed out, flat, straight, trees and fence on one side, basin on the other. This consumed a lot of energy, had to keep turning my head trying to breath properly and it was cold. It was also windy on another stretch closer to the finish.

Quite the turn out, lots of volunteers, plenty of water and Gatorade to drink. The after event nosh left something to be desired. TB and DR headed for bbq and I wolfed down a big plate of pasta I had the foresight to prepare yesterday. Shirts handed out are okay, not some loud colour.

Caught a quick nap and now trying to catch up the remainder of the weekend chores. Leg is a bit sore, quad stiff, but over all don’t feel the need for fizzio or massage. Won’t be running at all this week, will try and swim instead and give myself a break.

Something to keep in mind for the future when preparing for longer distances is that I found it difficult these past couple of months to put in the long runs, either because of time constraints, weather, and less, my leg. Hats off to the runners who manage to stay the course and train well and then get the result they are looking for.

Congrats to Knee, her buddy Norman, Dan, DR, Acidosis, all present today as well. Can’t wait to hear from them as well.

DR – remember SNL or are you too young ?? better to look good then to feel good…

Gro – I think I like Gomez with his shaggy rasta look as well.

Congratulations KJ and DF, you did a good job. And Norm!! What a machine! He is faster than me after only two races in his life!!! (by 5 seconds)

It was great to see you this morning, but as DF told us about the long line to get our chips, we flew fast, and then I lost sign of KJ and Norm. Next race, we should find a meeting place AFTER the race, because I was looking for you guys and saw nobody.

Today, my goal was to keep a pace of 4:30 per km and arriving before 1:35. I started too fast as usual (4:20) but after that I was able to keep my pace and getting 5 seconds here, and 3 seconds there, never more. Runners kept passing by, but I was still concentrating on my pace. What I liked it was that I felt great. Temperature was perfect, not too sunny, not too windy. I still felt great at km 14, but the difference was that I was passing others. It started to be a bit tougher only at the 18th (I think it's there that I saw DR). I have to admit that the stronger wind at the end took me by surprise and I did km 19 and km 20 a bit slower. Then I was able to go a little faster for the last km, a guy was using me as a pace bunny I guess, so I kept that pace (what a gentleman I am!), but with about 400m to go, a friend of that guy gave him a boost with me along and I am very happy to say that I have beaten my personal best by 9 seconds.

La morale de cette histoire: I'm ready for Ottawa and I intend to run it like this half.

Roly: Happy B-day big guy

RG: Congratulations on a successful run. Amazing split times. How did you do it?

Had the pleasure of chaperoning DF and Dame S today. This was my first run since the race. Both ran well and were running within themselves. Dame S broke away at the 16km mark. Her body english suggested that she had reserve to tap into and she took advantage of that. My goal for DF was to run injury free. From her race report, it looks like we may have succeeded. This augers well for her next event.

It was difficult for me to go a week without running so coming out today was fun. The sun was stronger than expected as I discovered my shoulders and face were red from the sun.

DR: Thanks for the feedback on the new cycle. There are definitely some, "take-away issues" to ponder about it. In particular I enjoyed how selective you are about nutrition. We should be selective more often.

KJ: Great to see you with Normand. Good performance for the beginning of this season.

Happy Belated Birthday Rolyone, and congratulations to all the races yesterday! It sounds like everyone did well! Good going!

I didn't run this weekend, as I have been sick with a cough-cold.. I thought about it Saturday morning before it got the best of me, but I knew it would wear me out more, and I decided to get a little rest. Oh well.. I hope I am feeling better by tomorrow night for Hurleys.. At this point it isn't looking good.. Sorry.
