KJ.. I just saw a Timex one on clearence for $60 at the Zellers on Taschereu.. It looks like the one that SillySally uses. How do you like those Timex ones? I am used to the rest of their features, but I don't know how it is as far a HR monitor goes. I'll bet you can find good deals on the computer searching different mail order sites also.. Good luck with the gift.I ran again last night.. my first time with a head lamp! That was pretty cool. I don't need it for most of the run, but the few sections of the trail that are like black out conditions, it helps.. The night before I just ran in the complete dark and I was basically lost, I had to just look for gaps in the trees, and stop if I felt my footing change when I ran off the trail a few times... I found the light.. The Headlamp is the ticket! Enjoy the great weather, Everyone! Truxx

Nor do you really need to!!! I think most people here will disagree but IMO, you just need a watch with a chrono and the time (so you know when to turn back and go to work in case you got carried away). Use GMAP pedometer to chart out your route if you want. And use your body if you want to know how fast you are going. Those gadgets are fun to play with but only if you don't NEED them.

I don't use my HRM often, more for curiosity than anything else ... I listen to my body ... that's what I did when I IM trained and always what I do when I race (negative splits! ... mind you, I go so slowly Anyway, the best and coolest sport gift I ever got was a ChampionChip, my very own. One of my good friends bought it for me for my first marathon. I told him I wouldn't need it, I'll use the one given out, and heck, I was just doing one marathon! He paused and said, "I'm going to get you the ChampionChip." I guess he knew! Sally ------------------ "Follow your bliss" My Ironwoman Inklings

The only things you really NEED will not come gift wrapped and cost 100 bucks. well...on second thought...No, NEED is an entirely different animal. Gadgets for your b-day is cool. If you can find the HRM at your price, good on you, KJ! Right now, I need a decongestant, tbrnk.

Thanks to the Grollies and Knee for the barrel of laughs. Truxx should team up with you night riders and learn a thing or two from you tree huggers! See you Sunday Scott. You won't need your lamp!

Did I really type Knee-yup, I did. Actually it was the delectable Line (Df) who accompanied the Grollies. A thousand pardons. The earlier submission threw me off balance. Too many beers (one) at the M.A.A.

1) You know there is an edit function on this thing. 2) Watch out, you will soon catch up to our resident beerandwine-a-holic Hey Grolies and team ... we need a date for our next outing and I want you all there! Give me something that works with you before the end of the month. We can do either Hurley's, Chinese, or your suggestion. Here are my suggestions ... who can make it? Beautiful day out there. Looking forward to the weekend. Standard Life 10km tomorrow morning on ile Jean Drapeau. Rebuilding the speed that I lost from marathon training. Sunday should prove to be fun. I'll be escorting BF on the final 20km of the 100km Fatass as we return to the chalet overlookig the south side city on Mont-Royal. Not sure if you guys will still be on the mountain around 12:15pm (monument) but your company is most welcome for the last 5km of her trek. TB

20k should be a a trot across the street for the crazy ultra trail runners... I`m training at PJD on Sunday... long run + swim (maybe). Gag, is France (I think that`s her name, sorry if it isn't!) doing the meet at Jean-Drapeau at the end of the month? Merc, I'm counting on you for my ducks... TB: how dare they steal my name for the race... ha.

Sorry DR. Regretably, they have done away with that tradition. All they do now is serve duck after the race. (duck- on- a- stick, as it were) Don't woory though, I'll eat enough for both of us....... Gotta get through St. Bruon first though. I'll be chasing down Truxxy there, one leg and all......
