hey rollo.... how are your legs feeling today? I'm tackling the stairs head-on this morning but very slowly, walked the puppy three times yesterday and again this morning... not feeling too beaten up considering prolly get a run in before the weekend....

sherpajons pics only tell a tiny bit of the story.... the photographer never lleft the aids staitions!! ......

I'll try and find some time to jot down a few thoughts on the race from my angle (slightly obtuse)......

grommit.... still buzzed from the weekend

Good morning everyone, just caught up, will have to re-read...still not in my home so no connection on weekends, blah blah blah...

CONGRATS !! Guys - what an accomplishment..can't wait to hear all the details...what memories are made of...but not mine too much of a wimp...

Any - as Sally said, every k is a good thing and yep it was hot on the weekend, we're not use to it yet..

I waddled the hill yesterday morning, slow, a couple of stops to check out the view ...no hat, no sunscreen, dumb.

Thanks for keeping me company afterwards TB, always great to catch up.

And another week has begun.

Suprisingly I have very little pain today and can run up and down my stairs no problem. Funning thing is my traps are the sorest muscles today. Guess I got me a really good training coach. Thanks for all the help getting me this far Gro, I am really, really gratefull.

I will need a few days to absorb everything that happend over the week-end and try and put together a report that expresses the way I felt and what I experience during the race.

All I can say is this is one of the greatest and most memorable things I have ever done, I am so motivated to go back next year and do whatever I have to to get myself in top shape to finish this monster in 2008.

DR so when can i come by for that massage.

Truxx, in a few weeks we can work out the details for a meet up at Hurley's.

Mercury, It was 42 miles on an motional roller coaster. But I loved it all they way. Can't wait to go back to Vermont to help gro complete the VT100.

Df7, You should start thinking of training for the Jay half marathon next year. I still have to run that one in 2008.

......hmmmmmmm not sure I would let Roly recommend a race to anybody ..... best option for anybody who's tempted to dip thier toes into the rarified waters of ultra running [in the North East] would be the 50K option at the Vermont 50 .... seriously everybody should try one.... and this one's a real pleasure... and not at all like last weekend's odyssey. And as for wear & tear on the body... absolutely none compared to a marathon on ashpalt.... rollo & I are both mobile the next day!!!..... I don't know how you guys do it

grommit
is it the weekend yet?

Gro, you rascal. Welcome back to the flatlands. When is that tactical meeting?

Just getting over an achilles problem and now something sciatic. Grrr.
Anyone running with me at St. Bruno on Sunday? Maybe you need a ride?

Come to think of it, Gro & Roly, come run some hills!

Mercury1.. I want to go to St. Bruno this weekend. I guess I better register first..haha. I don't think I need a ride, but it will be nice to see you there.. I will try and keep up for the first couple K.. Then you are on your own. It is going to be my first trail race since Cross Country when I was in 9th grade.. The closest other trail race was a 10k in Alaska with half of the course on the dirt/gravel road.. and the half way mark at the beach looking out at Bristol Bay. I am really looking forward to it.. I wish I was in a little better form, but I will be alright. I practiced again tonight.. so that makes 2 times!.. (this month)

Hi,

I have to decide tonight if I am going to St-Bruno for the 5k. Right now it's 95% positive but I still have to register online!

Hello all!

I was wondering if any of you have a heart monitor and if you recommend one? I want to buy one for Norm's birthday. I went to Sport Expert, and they had so many to choose from. I dont want to spend 300$!!! Is a device with only the heart rate monitor enough? They are between 80-130$. Those, I can afford but I want to make sure it is a usefull training device... I never used any of this myself...

Thanks,

kj

Don't get the Polar.......junk. Always breaking down......grrrr. Got a $65 one at Boomerang Fitness on Devonshire Rd. in TMR, just in front of Blue Bonnets. Have had it for three years in all sorts of weather & it's still problem free. Just a suggestion.

i'm interested in running at the mountain this weekend, mount-royal, that is. i'm still fighting a cold, but i'll have killed it by the weekend.

hey kj, if you you want other options for a gift in the 50-100 price range, sign norm up for a longer race! i know i would really appreciate it, unless it was for pittsfield... then i'd have to wonder, "what did i ever do to deserve this?"

Thank you Merc! The Polar is everywhere, so I could have bought it easily.

Hey! KZ, that's a great idea! I might sign him up for a half marathon in september... Hahaha! Pitsfield would'nt be a gift for most normal folks.
