Gro. Don't know the full extent......very stiff and tender this AM. Limping with an ice pack at the moment.

Sally- don't want to defer, want to run, want to win!!!!!! In great shape at the moment, running way faster than at this point last year when I finished 2nd in my category so I expect I will give it a go anyway. I'll do some cycling & / or pool work until then and test it out when I get down there.

Merc. Why don't you take a complete rest until Sat. morning then test your heel for an easy 1km before going in Ottawa? You're in a great shape, so I think a complete rest is what you need. No bike, no runs, no walks, no gym, just RICE.

Go see Gro's physio. Today and tomorrow, get it fixed up but don't do ANYTHING on it (besides sit and lie down). Follow Gro and Gag's recommendation. Sit down on your couch and pick your nose for a day or so. ICE ICE ICE. IBUPROFEN (but DON"T RUN ON IT, even if it feels good). Ask if taping will help. Buy the tape and tape it up for the race. Run from the finish to the medical tent. More ice right after. Which leg? Who's driving?

Merc: Take care of your achilles tendon. Hope for speedy recovery.

Too hot and humid to run today. Smog is affecting the air quality today.

Ate too much as usual. Thought I was going to burst

At least there is one positive thing about living outside the city, no smog here... but it's really hot.

I am working from home today and my big idea was "hey I am home, I'll go run on my lunch break". I did run for 30 minutes, but my legs were really not into it at the end.

The fact that I am still having trouble sleeping might not help either. But now I feel better and I am really energized. And i am threating myself to a nice massage tonight!

I seem to remember a certain someone running a half marathon in worse (hotter and more humid) conditions somewhere in the tropics (while I ran the full ... silly me). And he wasn't nearly as fast as he is now! What was your time, TB? Did I beat you the following year? (just kidding)

Whine, whine, whine ...

Dang, my legs STILL hurt from my Tues night run ... I am soo out of shape compared to before!

Thanks for the offer SS, I have to decline, we have a presentation on the 30th (some people coming in from France) and I missed a few hours for Physio this week... Looks like I'll be taking the 11pm-1am metros/buses next week...

Side note: Ever try getting decent won ton noodle soup outside of chiinatown???? I paid $8.55 yest. for a bowl of cantonese egg noodles (instant kind) in soup with brocoli and kleenex-like starchy mushy won tons... I took one bite, got up, paid the woman and left. Disgusted.

SS: I saw the pics of your mom and your kids on your blog... She looks great. Hope you enjoyed your visit!

MERC?!! You better be at physio now or else on your couch snoozing or flipping channels or pickin' your nose...

Too bad you can't make it Tuesday night ... one "chink" less ... more food for us!

Yeah, my mom was really happy to spend time with us ... but then she mentioned that it might be her last supper out Oh ... I want to cry now ... sorry ...

Merc: Rest up. We want you to win too so we can have bragging rights, but more important than that is your not worsening your injury!

Sally

After reading the thread MLC was referring to, I was speechless!

I hope that Merc is out at the physio or lying on his couch or bed and not at the pool, in a gym, on a bike or active in any other way. I admit the injury is serious and scary, but he still has more than 72 hours to recover. You gonna got them Merc

I feel very lucky that nothing bad happened to me so far (I'm touching wood), except fear of being bitten by a dog or by a snake, crushed by a car or a piano falling from above, hit by a stroke or by lightning. I'm afraid as well to get all kind of diseases and illnesses like the flu, appendicitis, measles, scurvy, tuberculosis, etc.

Like now, I don't know what I've got, it's so hot, I'm sweating just typing these words. What's going on? Maybe I should take that wig off...

Ninj.... this was a great opportunity for you to get used to running in less than perfect conditions...... maybe you could find an indoor, air-conditioned marathon somewhere

no smog here however it's a bit humid..... managed about another 9,5 miles of steep cobbled hills.... felt pretty hot..... and weather network says..... yep it did feel like 100F..... my new Nike Pegasus are finished a huge chunk of the sole just lifted away from the shoe..... less than a 150 miles ..... now you know why Roly suffers

merc we're all watchin you.... don't do anythin stoopid

Also the best time to melt some of that stored butter around the waist. 5.3 miles after work today, last 4 runs have been in the afternoon or early evening time to get use to the heat.
Tonight in the humidity I felt 100 lbs heavier and breathing was labored but I am still a little congested.

good night

Still alive !

Merc I have to agree with a lot of people, Ice but thats nothing new. I would suggest crutches for tommorow ( friday ). Physio or better, acupuncture. It did some miracle for me last year with a huge tendinites. It will increase the flow of blood, release tension and combine with a massage could be the solution. But if the pain is to much or if your still limping with pain before the race ... I hate to say it... then I won't.

At the Claude Robillard physio center they're very good . My friend Tuan Do Duc those some work there, his a acupuncture/ massage therapist/runner. Did some work with Bruny Surin, the national short track skating team and other stuff. If available could be one answer. Call early.
Sorry I don't have the phone number but it should be easy to find.

If acupuncture is not possible ( blood thinner ), the massage will help for sure !
Good luck !

Truxx : In June we need to try that disc golf course up north.

Roly: They're forcasting light rain for sunday, so the trail in Val- David should be muddy in some places. Could be interesting !

To the rest of you keep on running or moving or something !

Thanks for all the great advice from everyone..........now I can ignore it all and get moving.......(just kidding!). Actually, the pain has all but disappeared following multiple ice therapy sessions yesterday and this morning. I can actually walk with no pain!

Thanks EASY, but crutches will only be useful to wack my lazy students in their gym class. Can you imagine ME as your gym teacher? No MERCY! Move that &%$#@ a$%)*&^s. There will be mucho ice again today but it is unavoidable that am on my feet, but it is a light day at least.

I have run out of time for physo. I leave for Ottawa this afternoon. No whining though. My old UNB coach used to say that all the was required was "more hair of the DOG." Where have you heard that one before eh Roly?

Thanks for the help GRO. I just didn't get a call-back from Kinatex, but no matter.........when in pain, run faster. That way it hurts for less time!
